Another testament to the attention to detail and just general random bullshit free kicks in this game. Still getting called for a throw half the time when you've got a clean handball away just before getting tackled, clearly a legal handpass because the free doesn't pop up until the tackle (and the ball is already at the next player). But I also discovered that those "throws" still count as handball stats.

My Match Objective to get a certain number of handballs was still counting up every time I got called for a throw after a fair handball. Which is it Wicked Witch, did I throw it or handball it?

They need to fix that, i agree..

But the game is pretty awesome to be fair, some people are only going to be happy if they design the game themselves to suit themselves...

Some of the reactions on FB have been rude and incredibly over the top, which is something that much of the general public are guilty of, one-eyed arrogance..."Oh the game doesn't get one thing i wanted right, so forget the rest of it, it must be awful", 1 out of 5 stars, i want my money back, it's not fair...

I worked in retail and customers are so harsh, not all, but many are just completely unreasonable and incredibly rude in their arrogance, you have to wonder how they got to that point in life to be that way, to not look at the whole picture and to not even care. (miserable gits)

Any rational analysis says that this is a good AFL game, not perfect, could be improved in areas, doesn't get everything right, but it's a hell of a lot of fun and does a lot of good things.

Someone maybe keen for a PS4 online game this evening?

Just back in Aus, never played online. My internet here is pretty crap though but used to play AFL Live okay...

The AFL app has an article up about the Perth Stadium and they mention that the WA football commission could be rebranded to AFLWA

I'm no expert on how that may work but surely that would make it easier to have the WAFL in Evolution or Evolution 2 ?

So I finally got around to playing this game. I played a few games before the patch (waiting for a slow download) and the bugs were pretty bad but at least I knew they were fixed. Then played a few games after the patch, including a couple of longer 5 minute quarter games, and I must say it was a reasonably fun experience.

One thing I wish we had though that was in AFL Live 1 is call for a lead. The game is very 1 on 1 all over the ground, so being able to kick to a lead would help. I sometimes tried aiming at a player and kicking it in front of him but it seemed like the AI was just as likely to get it on the lead as my guy, so I realised I may as well just kick it as long as possible to gain the extra metres.

A few things that the game does better than AFL Live 1 (not going to consider 2 at all):

- Dribble kicks
- Player likenesses
- At least we have feedback for marking, and the positioning does seem important
- Fan hub, was great fun playing WA vs SA and Geelong 07-11 vs Brisbane 01-03
- Handballing is a little more realistic, in that your handballs over your head don't go as far which didn't seem to be the case in 1
- Stats, there are simply more of them
- TV presentation is basically Channel 7

And not quite as well:

- Commentary, somehow it managed to get worse
- Gameplay is much less open so aside for chains of handballs it's very much kick to a small pack and hope
- No kicks to a lead or calling for a lead
- The AI seems to do more goofy things now like kick backwards into defensive 50 to a contest
- The goal kick/clearance button sometimes clears the ball the wrong way, but I suppose I need to hold the analogue sticks more

Overall I see this being fun for a little bit but then getting tiring. Hopefully the NBN is smoothly installed tomorrow and I can get some games going online!

I was meant to get mine installed earlier this week but the bad media coverage PLUS knowing other people in my suburb that have been waiting as far back as February (and others May-June), I cancelled and will run the gauntlet at a later date.

I don't get it. You had an installation date but delayed yourself because you heard online and from neighbours there were lots of delays?

I get 3.5 mbit/s internet on a good day. I'm "running the gauntlet" now.

It's one thing to get it physically installed, that's not the issue I don't want to run into. I know of some that didn't have something required on the outside in their street that needed to be installed before it could be connected to their house. But my main concern is the issues some have when the outside is done and the inside is done, yet NBNco can't "activate" or authenticate the process. Reading more of the drama on whirlpool I was like yeah I'd rather have working internet until the default connection has to be turned off.

Fair enough. I have 2 phone lines here though (harking back to dialup days) and the ADSL goes through one and the NBN should come through the other. I suppose we can keep the ADSL until the NBN works 100%.

Yeah, this. The AI has the ability kick out in front of leads, both forwards and laterally, with pinpoint precision while your defender trots along behind. Meanwhile when entering my forward 50, the only chance you have to hit a lead is to drop it short. Players will lead laterally but it's pointless because kicking to them with the receiver lock just kicks it to where they are, resulting in a static 50/50. And you can't just pivot your player to kick to space in the pocket if the hotspot is covered. And then half the time if you do manage to kick to space, your player gets to the edge of the marking circle first, you nail the timing, but for some reason he then stands still while his defender runs behind him and takes the mark.

It's hard but not impossible. With lock on, if they're leading towards you you gotta try underpower the kick. If they're leading out wide, put some extra power on it.

I've highlighted the "IF" because how would you know with the sideways camera? Do you use end to end? I would use that but the switching is far too rapid and turnovers are frequent so I get dizzy.

I use the side camera, just keep an eye on where the lock on icon is on the screen and the distance too. That should indicate what direction they're going in.

Okay I'll try. I'm sure there are things like this you can get better at with time, but you often don't have much time and space to look at such things. I suppose real footy presents similar challenges though.

Honestly thought (and feels) like I've played it longer. But according to the Xbox I've put in 82 hours and 10 minutes into the game. I have gone through a few patches where I'd stop playing (had a break for a week, then would go a couple of days without playing it here and there) but resume soon after.

In comparison (as I'm playing them in tandem both have been the main games I've been playing since May) I've put in almost 320 hours into Injustice 2. Which basically means I've had an average of just under 6 hours per day since the night of release (it was far worse than that early on!). My game time average will surely drop more soon as I tend to only play for 2 hours or less (or not at all).

If history is any guide the publisher will release the PC version when they feel there is no more money to be made from the consoles and all the main patches are out of the way. Profit forecasting from PC sales typically sit at around 10% of console, unfortunately it's not material in most cases. We're probably a bit lucky we're getting it on PC at all. I don't think BA made a cent from the PC version, or at least not enough to cover their costs.

Part of the problem of Big Ant not making a profit from the PC version was not releasing it on a big digital storefront like Steam.

Hi guys!
It has been a while I know, we have just been busy with patches and the PC Version of AFL Evolution.
However I am happy to post here first, that we are pushing the button on Steam to make it live as I type this! :)
A few extras are in the PC version already, ahead of the second console patch, so we hope you enjoy and as always look forward to your feedback!

Thanks,
Daniel

Lol only Tru Blu could release a game without telling anyone it was coming.

What are these extra features?
