But what if you flick it a bit to the side by accident/skill error? Shouldn't the ball miss in that direction, and not suddenly be a banana?

Well surely that's all about the challenge we have to master. We are all bagging the game....master it!

So you support not missing a drop punt to the left or right when you make a stick error? Because that was the concern expressed in his post.

Is it possible to get some footage of the game with the developers playing it?

It's all well and good to pop by and say "When good players are playing it doesn't look like that," but maybe with less than 7 days to go you could be showing us what it should look like?

Still, at this point this is the best promotion i've ever seen of an AFL game so far, two trailers and two gameplay features by AFL players.
Two feature segments on the Footy Show and so forth...

it's hard to complain..

That is true exposure-wise. But some of it has not sent the right message to people. So it's about 50/50 to me.

We didn't see gameplay footage until a week before release and one of those videos has forced the developer to make a public statement about the game.

That's about exactly what I expected from Tru Blu. They are consistently bad at marketing anything. I will buy the game anyway

A fair point, well made.

by the way. i'm j peterman..

My standards for games are pretty low, especially graphically so I think I'll enjoy it as long as the Career Mode is half decent. Even if the game is hot garbage I want to support them so they can give it another shot in a few years.

same here, then again, i usually play and enjoy a lot of retro games more so than games with great graphics, so it depends on the style people like i guess.

Surely evo has to top live 1 in all areas, the only thing I don't like so far from the limited release videos are the goal umpire signals that have been around since afl live 03 and the same one line commentary from Denis commetti that has been around since live 04 also the set shot goal kicking should be more difficult, AFL is such a unique game as past titles have shown it's so difficult to make a decent video game because of the unpredictable nature of it i think if EA did have a licence to publish a AFL title the would throw it in the too hard basket

Got a message from them that the draft at the end of season is all generated and we can't edit it to put the real under 18s players in it which is disappointing. Would have been nice to have a 2K style draft class thing. Guess I'll be trading picks for players again :(

Make the wind more of a factor. Make the power meter fill up much more quickly to heighten the risk of over/under kicking it. When you push the right stick forward, make any slight left/right movement of the stick have more of an impact on the kick ie. Slice the kick or hook the kick.

I really don't want to see anymore scorelines like 12.1 vs 14.3 like the old games.

Yep. This was one of the things which put me off buying many of the AFL games lately. Want there to be realistic scores due to unpredictable kicking with conditions, distance etc.

If you make a stick error you pay the price....simple! The direction is controlled by the other stick.

That is really good in 2K, hopefully it's something they can do in a future version.

I don't really mind this too much as long as they're drawing on a reasonably substantive pool of names to generate the players, so we're not getting a bunch of players with similar name combinations coming through. If career mode goes for a number of years, then you'd need to have random generated players come in at some point regardless.

I'm certain I'll still enjoy it. I enjoyed AFL 2 for a few months. It's more about how much I enjoy it and how long I enjoy it for.

I probably come across as a negative whinger but I just want an AFL game on the same level as AFL1. If this plays as well or better, I'm happy. Simples.

This isn't about it looking as good or playing like FIFA. I'm not asking for an EA or 2K quality game. I just want something on par with what was delivered 6 years ago. A lot of people don't seem to understand that there is a middle ground between AFL2 and NBA 2K17. If you mention the animations are jerky all you're met with is "Don't expect 2K quality."

I want a smooth, enjoyable and visually appealing AFL game. So far, from what I've seen the animations aren't quite on AFL1's level, but graphically they're way in front. Whether this feels like football and like I'm in control, like AFL1 did, remains to be seen. But like you, even if it's shit I'll still be spending a fair bit of time on it.

Were receiver locks in Live 2? I'm happy that's been dragged across from Live 1.

Also, there is a "tag" button for Be a pro, which is interesting. I assume your player just mimics the movement of the opposition player and tails them around the field.
