During the prelim and grand final I'll be on a trip to London. Any information on watching the two games (should we make it) from London would be appreciated.

Haven't lived there for 6 years now but can't imagine it's changed too much. At least one (possibly all) of the Walkabout pubs will have the grand final on live and replayed again later in the day. There's sure to be some other Aussie pubs showing it as well. Not sure about the prelims being live, but replays will be shown.

London Bulldog would be your man. He lived there for a length of time and has just arrived back so would know all that you need to know.

Otherwise you can always do a thread on the main board or the fourth estate board where your thread will get wider readership.

Mate, was in the U.K a month or so ago, and the AFL website was showing it live for people in the U.K and the U.S, Not sure if you had to be Bigpond memebers though. However, I was in the U.S 2 weeks back and no live coverage (not sure what changed), unless you want to listen to it live online via AFL web page. If you get a broadband service, there is no delay in the covergae, it's like sitting at home listening to the radio, with all stations on offer.

Just rang my mate and he said that the Alex Pub has a ticketed event. The pub is on the Northern Line at Clapham Common. The Walkabout Pubs also will be showing the Grand Final from about 5.00am. Big day!! Especially when the Bullldogs win the Grand Final. Sick of negativity, I am positive we are going to WIN

I think to get into one of the pubs to watch the GF you will need a pre bought ticket, all other finals will be on shown on delay.
Whichever pub u watch the GF at will be pretty loose!!!

ESPN have been playing the friday night and sat afternoon games, for the last month. For prelim final w-e I think they will only play the friday game, provding we win will be us (correct me if i'm wrong) Most sports pubs will play it as it is on at 10 in morning and doesn't clash with anything. GF day has plenty of options, some venues you'll need a ticket but most won't.

The Slug in Fulham has now closed down... but it has a change of name and new management... Now called the Kings Head...
All AFL in the UK is now showing on ESPN... they usually show 2/3 games live... Hopefully they do the same this season...

Does the new place still pull a big Aussie crowd on Fridays and Saturdays?

Numbers have dropped off.... but they still get Aussies in there especially Thursday nights.... once the AFL season starts, it will be interesting to see how many they get going there....

Hiya,

I watched the Semi and Prelim final this year live at the Walkabout pub in Shaftesbury Ave (London). However its important to realise that not all Walkabouts will show the earlier finals matches.

I had to call around and check. Most Walkabouts open at around 12, but this one opened at 10am especially to show the match. I was also lucky in that both these were night finals so it was a reasonable time of the morning for them to open...not sure what I will do if we play day prelim final.

As for Grand Final, there will be loads of options so don't worry. Just about every Walkabout in town will show it live, also check other aussie themed pubs like Elusive Camel. The only issue is you'll need to buy a ticket first, but when you are here you'll be able to get one somewhere.

FWIW I'll be in the same boat as you this year, watching from somewhere in London so you're welcome to drop me a line.

The Walkabout on Shaftesbury Ave is now closed... shut down a month before Christmas....

Not sure if there are any Camel's left in London either... they have been all swallowed up...

Really? Looks like I better get ESPN!

LB is your man. Unfortunately Im back in london for one last year. Need to get an aussie visa for my brazilian girl.

Only one pub in london does every singel home and away game. The slug in fulham. Its changed names to the Kings head yet there is a sign out the front saying it will still do every game. Its fulham broadway tube and the best palce in london to watch afl.

hopes this helps.

How is it living in London I've been thinking of moving there for a couple of years to explore Europe.

I heard Barcelona is awesome but I'm not sure how it would go living there (language barrier among other things).

Its awsome. I highly recommend it.

There is plenty to do, its very social and easy to make lots of friends. And of course the ease and affordability of travel - particularly around Europe is fantastic.

Go for it - you wont regret it.

Woah, The Fulham Slug revamping? Website says they've found a new location.

Watched last years GF there, just before the move back home, the event was oversold, and the game feed kept on dropping out towards the end of each quarter. Fortunately it didn't happen in the last 1/4.

Still, it was the best place I could find for H&A games. Went to the Walkabout in Islington toward the end of the 08 season after they said they would be showing Freo/Pies. It was on a tiny screen in all the corner with no sound, with all the big screens and commentary showing one Premier League replay. Then when the Prem League coverage finished, they switched the audio over to some doof-doof garbage. Never went back.

Awesome! I really hope they still do this, says they will be at a new location though.

Kingshead in fulham (the old slug) is still going to show every game.
Also the Shepard Bush walkabout is showing all games as well. For Grandfinal a lot of pubs in the fulham area will play the game.
