Some of the people who play this game are absolutely pathetic. I played 2 games tonight both had 2 v 1 in them. The first wasn't as bad but still bad CROBOY JONES and the second one HeavyOscar212 was the worst player i have ever seen. He kept bumping me all the time no matter what and i could hardly stop him kicking goals. In both these games i lost by 1 pt in the first and 5 points in the second. He kicked the last 2 goals in 3 minutes because he had the extra playing advantage. I also kicked inacurrately:mad: In the second game this flog kept bumping and i missed a shot to tie the scores. They just seemed to be everywhere were as my players were no where to be seen. Im not playing until the patch. HURRY UP MICROSOFT and release the patch.

With Carltank and Norfold only on tonight, I'd thought I'd setup a simulation of the Freo Vs Hawks clash tomorrow night in a single match.

Checked all the latest teams online and adjusted accordingly for both sides, set the weather, 5 min qtrs and injuries set to high (relevant for both sides).

Started the game and assigned the controllers to neither side and sat back and watch the game unfold...
(made both teams sub at 3qtr time)

Full time score:
Freo - 8.7 55
Hawks - 4.6 30

I wonder if CPU Vs CPU will throw up a different result if I run this same game twice.

It was a good chance to use the close and dynamic cameras to watch the game play and not have to bother controlling players. The game play looks so much smoother with just AI; the players aren't running backwards and forwards off the mark and running into invisible walls. :)

It was also a good chance to see how your own team sets up in the game and where the kicks should come out of the backline.
Anyone done something like this to see how the tactics actually affect your own AI teammates?
I had Freo set to:
Playstyle - Balanced
Ball Movement - Attacking
Forward line - Balanced
Midfield - Balanced
Ruck - Attacking
Backline Tactics - Balanced
Backline positioning - Side by side

Kick out
Defending - Zone
Receiving - Balanced

This is pretty much what I use online, though i have the defenders positioning 'in front' as it always hard for the forwards to kick over the top and u can usually get a spoil in.

The ruck going forward is another that works well if you have most of the possessions (espicially with Sandi) but I find if I'm getting done I quickly shift the ruck back to defense.

hey guys havent been on here for ages, just like to say that the pach has really made me interested in playing afl live again. just a couple of thing that could be fixed,
. dont like playing against custom teams
. should try to get more 1 v 1
. neeed to try and gte more people to play online

Just wanted to know if there was any info on any further games for afl or any futher patches?

When is the patch coming for xbox?!! I am getting ****ing pisssed off with quitters..... Played four games lost the first one and then the next 3 i wouldve won but was quitted on each time!! as soon as i got to about 4 or 5 goals up, they just quit..

So, there is definitely a warning that you are about to play against 2v1 in the patch? I am struggling to understand how that's allowed in ranked matches.

I never a seen a warning in the 2 games ive had against 2 players, then again I dont really look either.

No warning.

It'd be a bit unfair to just disallow 2vs1's. Sure it's a damn tough thing to try and counter, but it shouldn't mean those people just cannot play.

Hopefully Ross will be able to give us 2 vs 2 with the next version, at least on PS3, over several consoles which should even it out considerably.

We match multiple players as follows:

4 v 4, then 4 v 3, 4 v 2, 4 v 1
3 v 3, then 3 v 2, 3 v 1
2 v 2, then 2 v 1

Essentially we try to match like players by number as the highest priority, however, if we can't find a perfect match then we will go to the next match, if one is not found for that then the next match and so on.

We decided not to show how many players were involved because people would back out and this might leave too many players without an ability to find a game. This, in my opinion, is the only contentious point.

The same is true for matching XP, quitters and the like.

The more match-making we do the longer it takes to find a match, hence the increase in time to find a match since the patch.

This matchmaking has given us a significant increase in closer matches and match completion - there are far fewer quitters than ever before.

Exactly, i would rather wait 1-2 minutes to have a good hard game then wait 10 seconds and play five minutes to have some one quit on me.

And i think not showing how many players on the game is a good idea aswell because it would cause alot of backing out.

Ross is There another patch underway, if so whats going to be added?

I fail to see how people can say that not identifying when the opposition has more than one player is fair.

Yes, people will back out but it's not for no reason. They back out because the game isn't fair by any means. It only takes two people with half a brain each to sort out how to exploit the game and gain an unfair advantage. People can whinge all they want if they would find it hard to get a match up when playing with a couple or group of people, but I couldn't care less as 9 times out of 10 they use ridiculously dog tactics.

They should be identified, so they way if you are happy to play against a group of people you can, but if you don't then you can leave without copping a penalty. FIFA identifies it clearly, and AFL Live should do the same, only because the advantage of multiple players in AFL Live can be far greater than the greatest of advantages in FIFA.

If these people are having difficulty finding a game, it's simple - either be fair and play by yourself, or play a private match with a mate. As I said before, most people who play with mates on a team do so using dirty tactics in order to get cheap wins, rather than a fair and fun game. So why should we adhere to their complaints of what's fair when they don't know the meaning of the word?

And you know this because?

And you know this because?

Mainly two things.

  1. EVERY game I have played against >1 player involved the rover and ruck rover running forward at the bounce, punch, bump kick forward. Occasionally you would win a punch but you get bumped continually and can't reach the ball. I have beaten a handful of multiplayer teams, but not without it being a ridculously boring game.
  2. Unfortunately, out of 9 of my mates that have the game, 7 always play with a friend or brother and use this ridiculous tactics. They'll talk about how they dominated so many games, but I always remind them that they're shallow wins.
I've never come across a multiplayer team not playing dirty. I will highlight that I said "most" people play this way. I haven't played against every multiplayer team ever, hence why I did say "most", but from what I have played against, I believe my comment to be valid and a proper reflection of what is happening. There will be some people who play fairly, which I assume you do since you had an issue with my post, but they are few and far between.

Oh my lord whoever thought it would be a good idea to use custom teams online should be banned from making the next one and probably any other game. Awful, awful idea. Everyone just puts Sandilands in the ruck and there's nothing you can do about it. Save that custom team rubbish for season mode.

Well turns out there is a form of shot blocking.

I mark it in the goal square, push the stick to walk backwards far enough and when i SLOWLY tap square to go into shot mode, the game decides I wanted to play on and kick it into the opponent who had walked up to me, touched, rush, momentum gone and game lost.

Piece of shit this game is now.

RUN THE CORRECT WAY AND MAKE A CONTEST FFS!!

Game is now banned from my house.

I thought you gave up like 3 rants ago

Piss off ********s Ive been trying to relearn how to play it, Its slower, less responsive and more weighted to people that maintain possession by chipping it around, instead of moving the ball to space for a faster gamestyle, its basically a boring style of football and less fun and fast than it used to be.

Its frustrating and has already cost me a controller.

I think it's completely the opposite tbh.

I find it's far more beneficial to keep the ball moving at all possible times and not slow it down.

I have been playing FAR better playing a more faster paced style post-patch. So much so I'm closing in on 15 ranked games in a row won, after only 2 or 3 post patch losses (2 against ridiculous custom teams).

This is probably the best physical example I could show of how moving it on as fast as possible can reap huge benefits in a game:

Look at the disposal, inside 50 and uncontested possession count.
