It is a Brilliant game, especially for there first shot. The next one will be amazing. I recommend it to all not just because I think it's a good game but the more support we give big ant the better the game will become

I think if big ant do make another game they should do a fifa style coaching career, where you can or lose the trust of the bored, get sacked if doing poorly, I don't know a franchise running over 10-15 seasons. Just add a little extra instead of playing a game each round, put media into it.

There's an AFL Wii game coming out in May which sounds like it is a bit more "arcadey"

The Wii AFL game is being written by the same people that coded the PSP game that was released.

Sadly I expect the Wii game it to be a slightly updated version of the PSP game (which was awful)

They do plan to add Franchise and Be A Pro modes in the next version, they just wanted to get the basics down pat in this version

Not a bad start to the next Gen Series. I give it a thumbs up. :thumbsu::thumbsu:
Well I have played 4 seasons on different levels so i think i have a fair understanding about how the game plays to have an opinion.
Not having the option to play multiple seasons or draft in players is a real let down for me. I would have liked to see who i had in my swans lineup in 2020. Could i have traded in Goodes and traded him for some young guns from Essendon or Carlton to build for the future before he retires and is still worth something. I think the option of trading players and making trade offers should be in there in future games. Even if lower level reserve players arnt really authetic names make them up because we see it successful in other Franchises like MLB the show. Give some young players the ability to develop into superstars through training.

Having a full Career mode and having the ability to drop players to reserves and work your way up through reserves as a created player would be great as well.

A Bigger salary cap is needed for create a team, why give 10 million to the Suns but not to a new creative team? You cant really afford to have no more then 2 or 3 stars in the team the rest have to be of a low level. Boring! when you cant make them any better. (yes i know i can edit player attributes from others to help reduce the cap but the point of getting a star is because they have the attributes not have someone like dane swan be run down by Aaron Sadilands)

Tackling i dont think is a big deal but theres been alot of complaints about not being able to break through scrum fests. I suggest to them go watch a game of football and you will see that sometimes there are 5 or 6 stoppages before there is a clearance (yes particulary at Sydney games because we are the masters of it :D)

I did find problems when trying to switch the play while in your defensive area or midfield your player would almost never be wide open by the time they recieve the ball or have a wide enough gap to be effective or you will get a dumb turnover where the forward ends up running back into space and marking the ball so then the plays become too predictable, so having the option to float a extra man in defence or have a risk option where you can select a defensive player to run foward would be great. But i guess if players didnt mark up then we would have goal fests and 60 point quarters so we cant have it both ways its just an option.

Anyway good game just wish i could have a chance to test some of you out online damn psn hackers !!! peace

Its what i expected, not FIFA 11, but good fun to play!!

On that... I played about 5 days straight of AFL Live on the weekend, needed a break and jumped back on to FIFA 11.

I may as well have been playing without hands.

It's odd how you can dominate one game (FIFA), learn to dominate another and then go back and almost become amateurish.

The game could be seriously much better. I won't personally buy it.

Just sucks we are such a small market we can't get any decent developers on such a project.

BigAnt are a decent developer. (EA tried, and failed at it as they know nothing about our game)

They said from the start that this game is the groundwork of what they want to build into a very very good game. FIFA wasnt like it is today in its first installment, as a matter of fact it was worse than this.

Support the company, they love Aussie Rules and love making games of Aussie Rules, its in brilliant hands and will become an amazing series.

Forgive me for not having better info, but I remember smashing and loving (SNAP! SNAP! HIT SNAP!) the first couple of AFL live, then the mint Premiership edition, which was good, then they released one soon after which was ****ing impossible to use.

Anyone know what im talking about?

Sounds like AFL 2005 - it was unplayable. I have gotten at least some enjoyment out of every AFL game to date, way more than the overall quality would warrant (something about taking North to the premiership every year that attracts). Anyway all that stopped with 2005 - I am breaking out in a cold sweat as I type this and dare not speak of the evils that befell any gamer that gazed upon the horror within.

To those of you who have the game, is there any chance of uploading some YouTube videos of NMFC spanking the daylights out our club's next opponent.

And more importantly use the player creator to make past players/teams for example our premiership teams or team of the century etc and then post photos or videos!

Well If I had spare cash around I would go out and buy it. The game clearly has alot of potentiol to actually be awesome no doubt. From the gameplay videos I havn't been hugely impressed But Hopefully I get the chance to play it.

The fifa games are really addictive, Would love for the AFL live to be just as good.

CLOSING COMMENTS
Football fans should heed the old cliche of taking each game one week at a time: AFL video games have a strong foundation with AFL Live, but still have a few years of hard work to go before we can expect genuinely great things. In the end, the highest compliment I can pay to AFL Live is that it looks like it has the makings of a potential top-tier franchise. Is AFL Live a great sports video game? No. Does it feel like football? Sometimes. And for those who have been punished by a decade of near-unplayable AFL video games, ‘sometimes’ will be enough. The rest should keep an optimistic eye on the future of AFL Live and Big Ant.

Seeing as there's no instant replay feature, I just played through a season as North with the lowest difficulty setting and the shortest quarter length, just so I could see the players in the trophy room. At the end of the season Swallow won the Brownlow and Petrie won the Coleman. :D

Sorry for the crappy cam & crappy TV.

Pretty good likeness eh? Though Drew's hair is a bit dark and Spitta looks like he's about to kiss the camera in the first pic.

Check out the AFL Games forum on here and check out the chatter. One of the poster's has been very dedicated playing with the various stats to make the game more even and free flowing according to his game style. The results look fantastic and he has managed to reduce tackling, make scoring harder and give players the proper attributes without destroying the game.

And the changes can be brought into season mode once the new patch comes out! I just need the PS3 now and it will be mine!

Drew Petrie looks really good in the game. Thanks for posting the pics, I'm still waiting to get hold of the game and those shot of our players is exciting!

I've got the game and I love it. I havn't finished a season yet so I havn't seen those pics of the Coleman and Brownlow medalists. That look really good. At the moment I'm up to round 15 and Drewy is on bout 73 goals so he will definately win the Coleman, although he is out for the new few weeks with a calf injury. Got a feeling he might also get the Brownlow although i wouldn't mind seeing Boomer or Spitta get it
