AFL Membership Vs Collingwood Club Membership

What so good of being a MCC Member compared to others?
Benefits: Ive been to every grand final since 2001 (except, thankfully for some reason I didnt bother with the Geelong Port adelaide massace). Entry to any game I want including the cricket, better seats, although sometimes it can be a pain lining up at stupid oclock on GF day/Anzac day to ensure you sit where you want. Full strength booze in Glass. (although you need to drink it in the bar). When the weathers crap, suit up and sit in the long room and drink pinot.

Negatives: Not being able to bring friends to the GF. THats about it.

Honestly, I love my MCC, and Id never give it up. The downside being Collingwood doesnt get a significant $$ injection. I offset this with the cheap package the club offers where you get a hat and a scarf for about $70 I think, its not much but Im not made of money, and at least its something.

You can but they charge you for it.
Not sure how much - but could be over $100.

It's about $115 from memory.

I was AFL and now MCC. I maintain Collingwood Social Club too - primarily for 3 reasons:

- Ballot access to the Grand Final if we make it (I was silver AFL, now provisional MCC)
- Sit with mates who are Collingwood members only
- Access the Social Club Bar

Since I can't get into the MCC for category 1 Games, I'll be sitting in the Collingwood members a little more than I have in the past.

Am heading into my 15th year of being an AFL member and have been a full member since 2010 after joining in 2003 and I wouldn't change it. I will be signing my child up who is due to be born in a couple of months as well so by the time he/she is around 10 years old (might be more like 12) they can be a full member as well.

Just a note to all you AFL Members with Collingwood support.
The person that runs the club twitter account confirmed to me that the club "WILL NOT" be giving us AFL Members a membership cap this year.
I'm wondering if they will even give us a sticker and lanyard.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I find it pretty disrespectful.
How much can a cap cost them to produce $1.
The club does not think we are worth $1 to them even though we are as loyal supporters as any other supporter.
Perhaps they should also stop counting us in the official member count as well.
The AFL Members is always full at Collingwood games while if you look at the Ponsford, it's empty.

Really ? Even a $95.00 , 4 game Collingwood membership gets a hat and scarf

Well you giving all the Money on your Membership goes Directly to Collingwood. That does not happen with AFL Members

Club gets $125.00 from AFL members about the cost of 4 general admission games

Club only gets $95.00 from their own 4 game membership

Overall very petty by the club

They should by principle not count any Collingwood AFL members in the club v club membership race , about 12,000

Imo only home or home & away members should be counted in official figures. Otherwise no issue with AFL getting counted. Club does get money of them at the end of the day.

Poor form not getting a membership pack from the club.

But they did not go thru the Club for there Memberships

The club gets money from the AFL for members who elect Collingwood, more than the 1,3 game memberships etc

Agree.

While the cap isn't going to make or break my decision to buy an AFL membership, it would be nice to know that the club values us just like each of their other members regardless of the way we choose to financially support them.

Even with Silver Membership?
No not guaranteed with silver.

Chain of purchasing is :
Full AFL (With club support for team participating in GF) > Other Full AFL members > Silver AFL Members (With club support for team participating in GF) > Other Silver AFL Members

The reason you get a silver is to eventually turn into a gold and have that opportunity.

I'm going to take this up with the AFL.
All other clubs give the same to AFL Members what it does to club members.
I'm going to ask the AFL not to allow Collingwood to count us in their membership tally.
I have hardly missed a game in the last 10 years.
I might out of principle consider changing club support so they don't get a cent out of me next year.
I can still go to any 40 games of my choice and go to all Collingwood games.
I have 5 memberships and the club would get at least $500 from me.
Not to give you a stupid cap is laughable.
The club has 12,000 AFL Members.
There is no membership that is comparable to it in value.
We get better seats than Legends Members who pay much more.
