As usual, the AFL website struggles to put everything on their website

cheers guys

Some advice: don't.

I cannot remember the countless times this year (and probably since 2000) going to my local Ticketmaster ready to purchase tickets for the upcoming Essendon game (whether it be a home game or away game) and told the AFL members is sold out when we're paying top dollar to be such members - and this is on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning so I'm not leaving it too late. Absolute waste of money. And don't even mention trying to get finals tickets.

I'll be purchasing the Essendon 18-game membership next year, the AFL have completely lost me.

well the reason why i'm posting this thread is that im in the 1st priority group at port (only 7,000 in this group) and ive got tickets 5 rows from the back of the great southern stand. If i was an AFL member on the other hand, id be able to get a ticket lower to the ground. Stupid ain't it?

If you live in Adelaide and declare Port as your `club support' team, there are virtually no benefits, as it only gets you into eleven games at Footy Park.

Yes, the ticketing situation is stupid. Its ordinary that neutral attendees have such a fine view of the game.

Yeah, however, i cant afford to travel interstate to watch port play, so 11 home games and a good seat at an AFL grand final is ideal.

do you know the price mate?

I think I heard $400 recently?

Only $150 more than undercover seating on the wing at Footy Park though.

is that the price of the full membership or silver membership?

Dunno. I haven't looked into it that much.

doesnt matter where you sit as long as you're there. It will be a great day and the view anywhere in the ground is great.

The solution to this is simple. Barrack for someone other than Essendon.
Your AFL membership became redundant the minute you decided to move to the Phone Dome.

Never had a issue getting a seat with my AFL membership. The privliges are not what they once were, but still good value if you go to the footy most weeks, and your team plays in, or you are interested in attending finals.

Just like to say a quick thanks to everyone who has replied to this thread. It has helped immensely . Good on ya guys!

It is category 4. Silver members don't have rights to the prelim or Grand Finals unless the reserve isn't sold out (like this years) but that is very rare.

I am a Essendon AFL member and have had a bit of trouble getting tickets at the Dome. I found if you book a bit earlier you shouldn't have any problems.

Does anyone know how many members exist in both the silver membership category and full afl membership category?

AFL membership should be called VFL Membership, cause unless you live in Melbourne, you can't get any real beinifit from AFL membership.
http://afl.com.au/cp2/c2/webi/article/124800be.pdf
AFL Membership subscription is based around three venues - MCG, Telstra Dome and Optus Oval.
At all other grounds (for example:Skilled Stadium), Members who have selected the Club Support Package may obtain general entry only to their team's home games. Club Support Package holders whose team is the away side at any of these venues are required to pay the general admission price for entry except for Victorian-based interstate club Members, subject to capacity.

The fact that it does not mention any interstate ground in the terms and conditions makes it an absolute joke to be called an AFL membership. It's a Melbourne Ground Membership, nothing more. Should be phased out.

There are about 48,000 AFL members elligable for the 15,000 available tickets. The elligbale ones include Full Members, and those that have nominated Port or Brisbane as their club-support option. There would be probably 60,000 members in total. Of those 15,000 'available' tickets around half are actually siphoned off to the Medallion Club members.
