A couple of points,
  • This is a danger game, make no mistake about it. However, we can still smash them if we click and play 4 quarters. Yes there is irony there, but you know what I mean. There were parts in the Freo game where we just suffocated them, the swarm was well and truly there. Do this for 4 quarters and they are done for 2012.
  • I wouldn't be surprised if Pendles was given another week. We don't need him this week, I'd give him another week.
  • Mooney won't be dropped IMO. His speed and tackling pressure will be needed against the speedy Blues.
  • If Reid is slightly injured, rest him. Don't take any chances.
  • 31 disposals and 2 goals to Clarke, so he will be a definite in.
  • Wouldn't be risking Didak yet.
  • A little confused at the talk of Brown been omitted. Guy needs the game time and will be crucial in September.
  • We need to persevere with the young kids as much as possible and rest the senior players when the opportunities present themselves. Malthouse made a meal of this last year.

No one worried about the 5 day break for clarke after a hard slog game today? I hope Tazz is ready to go. Saw Ried grab his hammy very late in game:( I hope it was only cramp. No reports through about it so hope its nothing.

Bring them all back.

Didak, pendles, Tarrant and Sinclair. I want to end the season of those pieces of shit. Once and for all.
I second that. Nail, coffin. Though I reckon just Pendles (only if he's 100% reay to go) and Sinclair. Why the hell do week need three tall backs against them? Do they even have a KPF?

They're really scraping the bottom of the barrel, throwing up names such as Curnow, Lucas, Thornton, Mitchell, Bower and Collins to come in next week.

They are a rabble, and isn't it fantastic!

Pendles and Sinclair in if both fit. Clarke will get another run in the 2's to keep building confidence

Outs - tough. But I'd say probably mooney and Elliott

Any talk of Buckley out is ludicrous. He is growing in stature each week. With more confidence he is going to be a genuine weapon come sept with his versatility and penetrative kicking

Buckley was woeful against the Eagles, and I really wouldn't be confident taking him in against the best sides. His decision making under pressure is suspect and he loses too many 1-on-1s for me. He has definitely had a few good games, and his game yesterday was decent... but I think sooner or later he will have to make way because Clarke, Johnson, Didak etc. are simply better players (I know the latter plays a different role, but the team can be shuffled).

He is definitely a good depth player to have. But I shudder at the thought of taking him into a prelim or GF against the likes of Hawthorn.

To me it seems few of our "second tier" players can put four quarters together...therefore such difficult decisions.
IMO, I want Sincs back, he needs more senior game time.
Pendles back when he is good to go.
Tarrant, let him run in the VFL IF we do not need him, otherwise bring him in when ready.
Mooney, let him have a full run in the Seniors.
Elliot/Marley...only drop depending on what we are playing against (i.e. do what we need for balance)
Buckley...has some decent skills, poor decision making at times, but I think he is improving as his confidence grows, and I think he needs more games to help here.
Jolls, only gets better with each game.
Dawes....see Jolls
Clarke....proved where he is destined for today.

Would definitely NOT like to be part of the selection committee.

Carlton will be missing henderson, jamison (most likely), laidler, waite, and murphy. That's their backline, best (only) forward and arguably their best midfielder all out. Whilst we bring in pendlebury at the very least. Not to mention they are woefully out of form. If we don't win, i will not be a happy man!

They do have judd though which worries me as he regained some form on friday night and he usually rips us apart :/ i say we send swanny to judd head to head for a while to work off him, and if he gets out of hand put wellingham on him. Carrazzo will go to pendlebury (assuming he plays) like last time due to the fact that carrazzo matches up better on pendlebury (slow in and under) than swan (good on the spread).

It's a danger game because Carlton will have there back to the wall and want a win but with the way we are going I can't see us losing.

We have to give them an Ol' Thumping to boost our percentage.
Has nought to do with percentage. This is payback! Murder the cheating scum! :thumbsu:

Unless Mooney is in our plans for this year, he will be dropped. Sinclair may come in, but Paine may be kept for team balance. Pendles will return and a decision will have to be made about the backline...Nathan Brown might be rested because Williams will be needed for Betts and there aren't many tall Carlton matchups...

Did you not see the game? Or do you habitually say the same thing about Buckley week by week on the assumption that all his games are woeful? Many people thought he was very good against The Eagles, including me. Who is right?

At this point, I expect percentage as a given.

I actually want to end their club. I want this to be a game where the Carlton football club looks back and says "Shit, that was the game resulted in us needing to rebuild again".

I like what he brings to the table with his intensity and running power but his disposal in recent weeks has been ordinary. Far too many helicopters and wayward kicks.

Just on the helicopters (and not Williams specifically) but I wonder whether there has been some element of kicking them deliberately?

I don't know if anybody else has noticed this, but lately there seems to be a lot of ball kicked to a forward (non Cloke) contest and no Collingwood players go up. They simply wait at the bottom for the crumbs.

I've wondered whether we have been deliberately kicking hard-to-mark balls to contests, so staying down gives us a better chance of effectively winning the contest?

In: Pendlebury Sinclair
Out Mooney Paine

Buckley stays in by the skin of his teeth as his performance on saturday was one of his better games, needs to back it up though. Mooney stiff but hes got a taste now. Clarke can have another really solid week hopefully in the twos. Tarrant to play VFL if fit. Paine is defenitly a development player and although wasnt disgraced, would like to see some more really solid performances in the twos and then get another taste towards the end of the year.

Dude, you seem awfully confident...

Dude, you seem awfully confident...

It's easy to be confident when you know you'll win.

We won't lose to Carlton. Buckley, and the players won't allow it. Revenge will be on the menu this week I can assure you.
