Travis Johnstone anyone? ;)

Credit to Collingwood who were by far the better side. They really taught our youngsters a lesson. Lets stay positive and look forward to the return of Bradshaw next week.

No Thankyou, we had enough passengers in the second half today. Would rather have Notting or Proud in the team, as least you know their gunna give it their all.

We really seemed to lack any kind of run. This showed very badly in our kick ins where no matter who did the kicking in, they had very little if any options. Also showed around the ground with handballs going to players with opponents on them. Our tackling effort was ok, but not great, but more importantly we had very few effective tackles. We struggled to move the ball at all with the zone the pies put up.

I think a few of the younger bodies were a bit tired as well. We are fielding a very young team, and it shows in some games. Disappointing result after a good start, but we didn't miss bradshaw this badly last week either.

I like how the commentators said that L.Brown did a good job in the second half on J.Brown. L.Brown got bailed out by his midfield. They smashed us in the second half and J.Brown didn’t see it. Poor Blacky. :(

Sheldon's role has changed recently but it hasn't been defined, the kid needs to be a small forward, small back or midfielder, not a floater, the Lobster did some nice things tonight but the same must be said about his role in the team. I know i am on a bandwagon but Vossy should look the baby bombers, each boy had a role and Sheeds stuck to it, that is what our young players need!

this happened last time we played collingwood. Kick the first three of the game , looking like we are gonna giv the a run, only for them to run over us in the last half, and we only kick ONE goal. No other options but brown, credits to collingwood though, they were the better side, focus on next week. should beat essendon smoothly. touch wood

Agreed, a lot of the younger players were put in roles they weren't used to and it just didn't look good. Polks was the who stood out in my mind there.

Really seemed to lose all traces of any structure all over the ground after half time. Its so weird as we were doing ok in the first half. Credit to the pies for keeping it up and definately deserved the win. Worst half of footy i think we have played in a very long time. We really didn't seem to get the midfield dominance we needed for how well we did in the ruck, and i think we really really really lack some pace. We need at least two players in the team that have genuine pace. only ones that have a bit of speed, Sherman and Ash, were the only ones that really looked like they could do anything.

We were just amuch younger inexperienced team. They played a lot harder game in the second half and our boys didn't respond.

Roe has done his dash. Seriously he just watched the play happen around him (and that doesn't count the at least 3 goals he gifted the opposition). Johnston is not that bad and we needed some experience in the midfield.

My take home is that next year will be a good year for usonce our boys get some more gametime into them.

Obviously things are a bit tense in here right now...so to those Brisbane supporters who did post rationally on our boards before the game an open invitation to revisit those threads is offered.

Tells the story a little bit. Dont know why we didn't keep Merrett down as a forward and let Brennan ruck, or even the other way around. I think the chopping and changing in the forwardline never let us really get settled with our structure.

Just got home from the game, gutted. We looked tired in the second half and just weren't willing to work hard. There was absolutely no movement or run up the field and some terrible decisions or lack of decisions out of the back half.

Don't know why Brennan wasn't tried forward at any stage, not that it would have made a difference, the ball just wasn't getting there. Was a shame that Polkinghorne had to have such a quiet game when we were probably most in need of the lead up half forward.

Looking at the positives... We actually hit the ground running in an away game for once and got away to a good start. The guys only playing their first few games of footy for us showed glimpses of how good they are going to be, but at the same time got taught some lessons.

Highlight of the night was seeing Mitch Clark absolutely stuffed just after half time, yet time and time again he chased, attacked the ball and made an option for his team mates in the second half. Champion.

sometimes i think merrett is just an rookie i mean he moved in slow motion before davis tackled him in the third quarter just does not think on a regular basis .

True, but he did do 3 things that were pretty special. I bet the Melbourne audience had no idea he was capable of this type of footy. (dribble goal (that he called really early... btw.), screamer over Shaw, and a tidy pass to Browny after a mark.

Has anyone mentioned how bad Roe was?:(

There's no point singling out one individual player, because aside from Brown, Clark, Sherman and McGrath, I don't think anyone performed to the standard we should have expected from them.

Roe doesn't deserve to be made the whipping boy, I can think of a few people who were worse than him and a few more who should have been a lot better. Let's not get into that, there's nothing to be gained from it.

From where i was sitting, he looked like he was there to play a different game altogether. Maybe trying to catch his opponent in the offside trap or something? I dunno. I don't usually pay out on our players at the game but from watching the idiotic positions he was putting himself into, I could help but yell out at him a few times. Especially in the last.

He has no concept of playing the percentages, no flair and doesn't read the play well at all.

I dont think he'll end up playing another game for us if Voss was watching him.

Also, what's happened to our old Lukie Power! I swear this year he has become our clanger king. I hate to see a champ like him start to go backwards. I hope it's just an apparition.

............or even worse, an aberration.

Apparition, aberration or whatever, those dinky little kicks seem to get more readable every game that goes by.

Luke should be banned from trying those anywhere in the back half or in the corridor.

Ouch...some of those hurt big time tonight:(

Cheer up all:). You have just witnessed what happens to an AFL team that goes into a game under prepaired, unfocussed, with inflated self opinions & without serious game plans & counter tactics. I would rather it happen tonight ( even against Collingwood) than in September:). This is the loss that our coaching team had to have:) & we will be a stronger club for it, if it is the catylyst for meaningful change.
Tonights loss lay fair & square in the coaching box; it's that simple. Now i am not advocating we dump Voss, but it is time to off load some of the imbeciles that share the air in the coaching box with him & let Gubby go while we're at it. Assistants that do not know what to do when opposition sides play 4 blokes on Browny are WORTHLESS to the club & no more than paracites in my opinion. Directors of football that keep assistants like that are soft. The Lions need to recruit a) a mentor for Vossy b) some full time TACTITIONS & c) a new Director of Football, some one who can be a real bastard & make ruthless decisions: a job for Lethal maybe??
We were so powerfully outcoached from midway through the second quarter that the players lost ALL confidence in each other. Their lack of direction & cohesion made them look far worse than they really are; and boy o' didn't they look terrible:(. One can only imagine the confusion that must have been going on "in the box".
So cheer up "Luthor":), dont cut your wrists "Tim the toolman", be happy "Tripwire" and "3KZ is Football" no getting nurses to sign out pethadine for you. From what i saw tonight we have a few new kids that can play.To all dejected Lions fans, cheer up, it is gunna be ok.:)
Go Lions !
