Congratulations guys, was a great game to watch, on the edge of the seat stuff

I was pi$$ed about the umpiring at the time, but you can't blame the things you have no effect over, the only thing we can blame was ourselves for giving you guys a sniff in the last quarter... You guys are the sorta team that is always to determined to ever relax with, you showed that tonight. It was a real terrior sort of fight back, thumbs up.

Good luck with the rest of the season, and I'm not positive, but I'm gathering we play you guys at the G later in the year?
Should be a cracker
Cheers

Congratulations Brisbane, i'm not going to post my opinions on the game or umpring on here as I like being able to post. Congratulations on the win, took alot of heart to keep going after the scoreline of the third.:thumbsu:

Did anyone catch the crowd figure? I know it was down at least 4 by my mob. Taking the younger ones in the rain, then busing it home for an hours trip was not going to happen in this weather. Mind you, I think this is the first time I've lost my voice watching footy when I wasn't actually at the game!

Bullshit umpiring in the last quarter.

Lockyer was stupid, but those other free kicks, ie. Brown free kick, and Black free kick were not there.

Or Harry O'Brien riding Browny in the back or Johnstone's pass to Brown in the forward 50 in the 2nd that was easily 15. Yeah a bit unlucky, but not as bad as our treatment against the Eagles (with 5 mins to go count was 29-14 their favour) - good effort by you guys but our fighting spirit was awesome. As another poster said, it is nice to be on the winning side of a under a goal result.

Cheers mate. Can guarantee it if the shoe was on the other foot the natives in here would be bouncing up and down.

Nathan Brown looks to be a beaut too.

The Magpie supporters complaining about the free kicks in the last quarter . . . PLEASE! The umpiring was terrible for both teams, often paying the soft free kicks and missing the obvious ones such as O'Bree's throw, Blacky getting a hip in the head from Ben Johnson, Brown getting ridden like a surf board by O'Brien etc. . . etc. I also recall the pies getting a couple of dubious free kicks in the forward 50 in the third quarter which swung the momentum of the game.

Two things that really stood out for me for the Lions:

1). The Lions need to play direct footy. 'WIN' the clearances and move the ball quickly down the field to the big forwards (when they do that they look dangerous . . . similar to the Lions of old); and,
2). We need crumbers around the ball who can attack the ball and kick goals (like the Didak's and Medhursts). We need to develop the new Akas, Mcraes and Shaun Harts of the future.

Finally, congrats to Hendo on his first game, he tried hard and presented well. I hope he becomes a 200+ games clubman for the Lions. Would have been nice for him to kick a goal with his first kick in AFL.

Overall, it was good old fashion GUTS AND DETERMINATION that won the game tonight. Congratulations Lions! :thumbsu:

ok, a simple dont do it would of been fine.

That's what is was - just worded sternly. And honestly, I don't think I should have to spell it out.

I've already deleted some posts in case people are wondering what it's about and a couple more after the first warning. This is the last one.

bloody bloody awesome game! All credit to the boys for sticking with it. First time in a long time I have really seen our boys play as a tight team. There was one particular passage of play right in front of us where the pressure was intense and we did all we could to kick the posession and there would have been 10-15 handballs, scrambles, tackles, shepherds etc and when the ball was finally out and free the half dozen or so players involved celebrated the success together.

Still trying to slow my heart rate down!!

p.s. the donuts tonight were CRAP! Looked so awful I didn't even buy one.

By stating the obvious, what the Lions really need is to actually play 4 quarters of footy - first Q last week and third Q tonight. Take that out of our game and we look good. God how good was Nuxy's (Corrie) commitment in the challenge that resulted in Goldsack??? getting injured:thumbsu:

Sorry Invigoration, my terrible bad there, you are a model collingwood supporter and i wish this bloke ^ (bueller) thought like you did. Soz. LOL.
Good game tonight

Haha...I can see the umpires being a talking point here. My voice after that game, suggests a few went against Brisbane too ;)

To be honest I thought Collingwood did many things alot better than us tonight (Again we got smashed in the clearances 45-25) but we really gutsed it out and as long as we never see that 3rd quarter performance (I think I threw a few things to the ground in disgust!! ) again we can go somewhere.

And matchups I never want to see again:

Rischa v Medhurst, and Umpire Scott Jeffery sitting in our backline :D

I think I just managed to sit down after jumping out of my seat on the siren, and for Jed's goal.

JMac = legend. My BOG tonight. I know Lukey had it on a string, but Joel probably played his best game ever.

Totally agree the Duke's best game ever! He won alot of the 50/50 balls tonight under enormous pressure. He was good last week also. :thumbsu:

2nd quarter LL?? If so........yeah that was brilliant.

The umpiring was equally as bad. Just saw Fraser's free half way through the 3rd against Merrett for holding - what is the game coming to if they are paid frees - even if Browny got it i would have laughed at how soft it was.

What an awesome game!

I didn't get a chance to meet anyone from the board this time however, but i will be there next saturday to see us take on the Sydney Swans oh yeah!

Hopefully i can arrange a meeting point or time with fellow board members?

Meet a few more lions fanatics?

I am so ****ing relieved! What a great game footy! Umpiring was pretty shocking, but let's not focus on that!

Joel Macdonald you are safe as houses, i must admit i watched you play at aflq level and you were well above that standard but i never thought you had the weapons to play AFL well, you have proved me wrong, sure hands, strong body, presence of mind and the ability to hit targets make you one of the most important players on our list!

Jared Brennan- Kouta mark 2, his clearances tonight were fantastic and they are only going to get better, to think we have used him as a key forward, key back when in reality he is better served waltzing around the field and doing whatever he likes. Great effort

D.Merrett- As far as value goes there is only Brown, Charman and Black ahead of him, Merrett is close to the best fullback in the competition, that mark he took in the first quarter going back with the pack was nearly as good as it gets, he is a far cry from the old cement hands we saw early in his career

T.Notting- Was disappointing last week and in the first half this week, he worked his way into the game in the last half and hopefully he continues next week

A.Proud- Solid game, showed great lateral movement and was actually at the ball, something we really lack, i think Harding may get a game next week, we need more players working harder at the clearance

Henderson-Really good effort and will be a player of the future, i think Roe is the in for him though

All up it was a gutsy bloody win, we were gone, Collingwood owned us in that third quarter and then to come back in the last quarter was amazing. We picked a great team tonight, take out Hendo for Roe and we are at top billing.

We do lack a Brad Fisher/Robert Murphy type of footballer. Great effort by the boys and as a result i am going to have a great weekend
