Why? The AFL have taken plenty away from there members over the years.

You could get seats on level 2
You could get reserved seat packages for your teams home games at the MSG
All seats in the reserve were for AFL Members
There was no reserved seats for the GF, You walked up.
So the AFL take stuff away due to them letting Medallion and other rubbish in and your solution is to take more away from existing AFL members? That's the easy option, but the AFL should stop taking things away.
It's not a club membership.

If you nominate a club of support you are a club member.

Do what the MCC do and sell part of the members and leave half for walk up on the day and get rid of the medallion club

You’re a club member in the same way any other 11 game home GA member is. You can scan into any Public Gate for Home MCG games and you can upgrade to a reserve seat by entering your barcode for Home Games.

People really have to start looking at Medallion club members as Premium AFL members.
The issue is not that there is a premium membership, it is that it has been done solely at the expense of AFL members. If with the rebuild they can restore member capacity to a similar level to what it used to be, including level 2 seats, then I will stop complaining.

Tbh I’m more annoyed I can’t assign a club of support to an under 7 membership so that I can use the club allocation to sure up our attendance.

Couldn’t get two seats together despite being in the queue well in advance of 2 but that’s unfortunately the known risk we take with these memberships. It’s annoying that I had to wait for the AFL release though to even have a crack.

At the end of the day, we know we have a finite number of tickets for a larger membership base, so for high demand events someone has to miss out.

Problem with ANZAC Day is it’ll probably be 50% ‘Neutral’ in AFL reserve.

Would help if a Carlton v Essendon and Hawthorn v Geelong went on sale at same time!

At the end of the day, that’s the membership entitlements.

Anyone re-selling can get in the bin though.

Why? As you said It's what we all signed up for.
I know you are trying to trap me and maybe I am wrong. But I always thought at silver I signed up for home and away and 2 weeks of finals.
I don't remember the specifics of that match. Did they sell guest passes at the same time? How many corporate packages took away seats? ie there are probably other factors that should be dealt with first.
I'd be happy with prelims going to gold first since gold has it included in the price, but it is not that much more. If they start taking away home and away from silvers they should reduce the price (hello bronze).

Silver members pay guest prices for Prelims, and are restricted to level 4. The increase in price acts as a pretty good detterent.

I think if you start restricting non GF tickets, then where do you stop? Club support members miss out on weeks 1 and 2, and Anzac day, why shouldn't it also apply to those matches?

In 2017 our group of 8 (mixed gold and silver) had to split up for the Richmond prelim but we did all sit on level 1.
In 2019 the silvers went with the club member sales. It was cheaper, particularly because we could get a family ticket in the mix which made one kid free. As a silver I would do that again if my team was in a preliminary and would encourage others to do the same. As a neutral I wouldn't spend $180. The problem in 2016 was too many Collingwood silvers.
