If Grundy was best 22 at Melbourne wait until you hear who Sydney have lost over the last few years let alone decade

Stop deflecting and looking back 10 plus years.

Who cares what happened 10 years ago.

Swans are on top of the ladder yes?

Been playing finals regularly? Yes.

Grand finals? Yes.

Have one of if not the strongest list in the competition? Yes.

Have no problems attracting trades and free agents? Yes, no issues trading in gun best 22 players.

So why do they need all this extra assistance? They dont.

Why should any team on top of the ladder continue getting special assistance when other teams finishing last get no assistance at all?

Academies have been around for 14 years. I'd say it's very well worth looking over the last 10 years.

I'm sorry it doesn't support your argument but that's really not my problem
Well thats just a nothing statement. Something someone would say when they ......well......dont have a real answer.

Lol. No its not your problem. Why would it be? The team you support is sitting fat on top of the ladder and continues benefiting from 10 years of welfare from the AFL and for obvious reasons you dont want anything to change.

And it does support my argument and you know it.

You just enjoy the success your poor disadvantaged little Swans have whilst sucking hard on the welfare tit provided by AFL House and its TV rights executives handing out bonuses to themselves. Without it the Swans would be just like other teams who need to drop out of contending for years to rebuild. Thats the reality here.

if the north Melbourne and western australian teams people on this thread that want the northern academy's kids and their f/s picks so bad how will you cope if/when they get homesick?

that's when the whinging will start
Any sane person would be upset losing a good player but would make that trade off a million times for a fairer drafting system.

Absolutely confident Vic, SA and WA fans would prefer that system.

Little to no NSW and QLD players. Players constantly getting poached to go home.

Suns, Swans, Giants and Lions go back to being the rest of the competitions academies

I will start a petition for WC and Fremantle, Adelaide and Port to fund your academy and they can continue to run the academy at no cost to the benefit of the AFL as a whole. Then you can pinch them back from us when we draft them like everyone else does. No problem from my end.

Walters was an Eagles supporter as a kid. Eagles have a great retention rate as well.

Who is to say the the kids wont stay in the state they were born, 10 teams in Vic.

And noone is saying stip the acamemies or father sons entirely. Just make club pay full price. No taking Nick Diacos with a handful of junk picks. And allow all clubs to match bids from pick 11 onwards.

Restrict top teams from double and triple dipping with academy, free agents or father sons per year. They are allowed pruority access to one player per draft, not three or four.

So are begging bowl antics to extract three consecutive years of extra draft picks out of HQ

You got no comment on the rorts that are NGA's? That's the system you tried to leverage to get exclusive access to Ryley Sanders

If other clubs playing finals werent getting prioity access every year North wouldnt need all that help would it? It would have access to the best kids as opposed to teams at the other end of the ladder getting stronger and stronger at the expense of clubs struggling to rebuild.

The rich stop getting richer and that allows teams such as North the opportunity to bridge the gap and become competitive faster. The outcome being no need for all that assistance.

A number of years of poor list management and poor draft decisions led to North being where they are, not F/S, NGA and academy bids.

JHF, what a **** up that was, should have bid on Daicos first to cause Pies (the rich) maximum pain. Phillips over McDonald the KPF you so desperately (still) need to support Larkey, tell me about it

The academies, father sons and free agency has diluted the talent pool a hell of a lot. Making the strong teams stronger and rebuilding teams' job much, much more difficult.

If you can't see that then there is no point discussing it.

A factor sure, but those clubs have self hurt themseleves through list decisions too. Whether it be giving the farm for Tim Kelly, whether it be drafting JHF when he was a risk from dat dot. Clubs all get their own advantages, it's a juggling act with trying to get it being fair for all clubs (it never will be).

Fix the curve and 90% of the issues are done, that should be simple easy and done this year. The rest of the ideas lets see, but the key thing is making these junk picks not being worth a top 5 selection.

The curve is very important, as is limiting to 3 picks to match.

I don’t hear Melbourne in the same “**** up” conversation when it comes to Luke Jackson.

When Brisbane lost their kids it was woe Brisbane, not they “****ed up”

Regardless, without JHF’s lack of loyalty, we don’t get Wardlaw and we are eternally grateful to JHF for it.

How convenient. Just in time for a big Victorian team to benefit.

Now I don't expect points curve to change this year either. Even though they may keep points curve the same so Carlton will get their twins and Richmond can trade off all junk picks for some top pick to get their return. In the process Adelaide will benefit for Welsh as well as Brisbane for Ashcroft.

AFL new formula is give everyone something so collectively all of us will shut up.
