But the need for a two way running big bodied inside mid has not ended so we need to do everything we can to get him. That operation ended 2 years ago…
Money aside, what's the pitch? But the need for a two way running big bodied inside mid has not ended so we need to do everything we can to get him.
Lol. Tom Mitchell. That's a more likely reflection of our pulling power at the moment.Latest from Edmund on us;
"Hey. Please take me back. It's not you it's me. We've changed and it'll be different this time."Money aside, what's the pitch?
Interesting to see if that works."Hey. Please take me back. It's not you it's me. We've changed and it'll be different this time."
Dunkley isn’t happening. I think it’s time to move onBut the need for a two way running big bodied inside mid has not ended so we need to do everything we can to get him.
How odd would he be in a Port jumper though?Dunkley isn’t happening. I think it’s time to move on
Let me dream until he says no. Until that time comes, we have the salary cap space to make an enticing offer.Dunkley isn’t happening. I think it’s time to move on
My serious answer to this is the prospect of being the number one mid + winning individual accolades (eg brownlow, AA) as well as possible team success given he is exactly what we've been missing for a looong time. Also the prospect of helping a big club become a force again.Money aside, what's the pitch?
Is Dunkley more of a quick fix ? I would have him and his leadership would be good but I am thinking we need to take the next two first round picks and look at the longer term. We need to build a side around Cox , Reid , Perkins , Hobbs , Martin etc and bring this group through together. That's my take anyway.I’m not because we can’t afford to be paying two firsts. I’m more frustrated that we’re not in the conversation for Dunkley because we can blow away any offer other teams will make. He’ll also cost half of what Taranto costs on the trade table.
Carlton where a bit more advanced list wise than we are.Let me dream until he says no. Until that time comes, we have the salary cap space to make an enticing offer.

Tbh, i would not mind at if he came to Essendon and was offered co-captaincy along with Merrett if that gets him over the line. He would be far more important as a player at Essendon than he would at Port, Brisbane or Bulldogs. He tried everything last night to push Bulldogs over the line and I can see him do that at Essendon too. He addresses our lack of on-field leadership and I think he'd thrive working under a coach like Ross Lyon. Dunkley has played in two grand finals + many finals so he has the experience to share with the younger players and set the standard. From all reports, he is very professional in his approach to training and conditioning like Merrett and Shiel are so I think the challenge of growing that culture at Essendon could be something he is willing to take. Also, if he does want to leave Bulldogs, then he doesn't have to move states unlike Port and Brisbane.
It just makes so much sense for Essendon to go for him. Carlton managed to attract players despite their terrible year last year so hopefully we can point to the likes of Collingwood and Carlton to demonstrate how quickly things can change. It's all about how the club sells itself.
It's not exactly one for one, but this is more my pitch to him.Carlton where a bit more advanced list wise than we are.
Is it really quick though? 5-6 years of good footy is a long time and I think we're at the point where we need experience sort of like Hodge with Brisbane to push the club in the right direction. We've been bad for so long that on-field leadership has become a desperate priority. For a club like us to only spend one first on a player we've needed for a long time is worth it.Is Dunkley more of a quick fix ? I agree with most of this, but even next year he's more likely to achieve team success by staying put than coming to us. Unfortunately, most of what you've written are reasons why he's good for us, not reasons why we're good for him. I agree with doug85, it's time to let it go.Let me dream until he says no. Of course I don’t believe he will come because why would he given how much of a rabble we are? Doesn’t mean Essendon don’t try everything they can to get him.I agree with most of this, but even next year he's more likely to achieve team success by staying put than coming to us. It is the get better now mentality and not the build for the future. Personally I just prefer to use the top end picks and when a FA target comes along you start using that. He would fit us well no doubt about it but I just think the timing is out. It's not exactly one for one, but this is more my pitch to him.

I hate to admit it but they have done really well recently. Cerra and Hewett in the same trade period is some pretty good recruiting and exactly the sort of players that we need. I have a feeling that they will be pretty hard to beat next year if they have a better run with injuries. They have built a very handy midfield to go with some very good big men at either end.Carlton where a bit more advanced list wise than we are.
Agree. Although it is about time. They have had a half decent list for a few seasons now. They should be playing finals.I hate to admit it but they have done really well recently. Yep, we could get similar type at pick 4 who’s eight years younger. Yes some will say chance pick could be a bust but could also be even better. Would only go for Dunkley if he was a UFA.Is Dunkley more of a quick fix ? Don't mind me. You keep campaigning.Of course I don’t believe he will come because why would he given how much of a rabble we are? Doesn’t mean Essendon don’t try everything they can to get him.
Agree. Phillipou perhaps.Yep, we could get similar type at pick 4 who’s eight years younger. Yes some will say chance pick could be a bust but could also be even better. Would only go for Dunkley if he was a UFA.
Operation get Dunkley hopefully begins today…
"the Bombers are quietly chipping away" at the Jordan De Goey in the back ground apparently. Can anyone post or shed light on the DeGoey to Ess article in the HS this morn.

That's unlike The Herald Sun."the Bombers are quietly chipping away" at the Jordan De Goey in the back ground apparently.
Another nothing article that has no meat or vegetables in it but a fair bit of gravy in a long article that has maybe 3 paragraphs on Essendon and one line only relatable to Essendon and De Goes.
Rather poorly written to be honest and one that lacks any sort of credibility
Most frustrating thing? That's unlike The Herald Sun.
