Can’t help but think that Baldwin’s potential future at the footy club and the prospect of us saving a list spot for the SPP period is now completely dependant on academy bids.

If we have to cough it all up for Nguyen and Kako he may get a reprieve, if Kako slides a little bit and a pick in the 40’s gets fed back into the order then taking that into a strong draft is certainly the better option.

I would like to think we’ll table pick 28 to try and gain another future round 2 selection, where that comes from I don’t know but it makes the most sense.

In terms of draft night trading, can you draft out and then draft back in? Trade out 28 once kako points used trade back into 2nd round. Pick swaps or trade out futures to Brisbane if dont end up needing as many points.

next year we should trade 2026 first and have 3 fr picks. 4 (kako) really start the rebuild. Not sure we have patience for it but think is needed if any chance of success in next 5 years.

Step back next year, build year after. Finals, flag. Could speed up if perkins, Reid, cox, or some youngsters have a major jump but they look b grade to me.

Who is our next a grader? Or all Australian.

Merret, Martin,

Caddy, ridley?, byran.

Not convinced we have many with that consistent elite potential on our list.

We also need leg speed in the middle, a tall marking key forward (I liked the look of Armstrong but that all but gone - and that’s ok) and another pressure forward to make up for the lack of pressure from Wright and Langford.

If things continue on from the end of last year Wright will be in the VFL with Draper as Ruck/Key forward. Caddy and Langford as no2 and 3 with Jones floating in off the wing and Bryan as main ruck.

Then it’s Goldy, Wright and Viggo as your VFL talls. Could fit a 3rd tall in the VFL. 190cm half forward huge aerobic capacity. That’s likely 1 player Rosa is targeting.

Before he mentioned he planned on taking 4 picks in the draft. My bet Kako + 3 midsize aerobic specialists. 1 HB/3rd tall 1 HF/3rd tall one big bodied mid

Deal provides a lot or flexibility now and next year.

My impression is that having picks like this makes things happen.

I don't think you can criticise it for that reason.

You'd also have to say that they rate Kako as a very good prospect, and very good fit for

Small fwds becoming super critical and its massive hole for us.

Not convinced on daveys so kako is exactly what we should be using a pick on/academy or not.

At some stage in future I would like us to start a new trend and rest of league follows. Also why I didn't mind 2 tall wingers. Unfortunately it only worked for 6 quarters and then was exploited too much.

Draft needs - try to avoid plodders with limited foot skills.

If they have average skills they need elite pace. We have parish, hobbs, tasats, caldwell, setterfield? as average paced with limited foot skills.

Most make up for it with clean hands and contest work but even then are they are not bulls.

Speed, half backs, pressure player should be go with later picks. I still think a project fwd or ruck is worth a shot. They usually drop down draft.

The Twitter algorithm is so bad Twomey’s tweet telling me the Power/Suns/Pies trade is no longer going ahead is presented to me before Twomey’s tweet telling me that there is a Power/Suns/Pies trade in the works.

I’m experiencing time in a non linear fashion.

I think we will grab a tall forward if there is one we like that we can get around pur 40s pick

Fingers crossed Sims.... but not much there imo at that range

The rest will be smalls. Probably need to go half back again with one aswell

Problem with going small is we’re already too small and lack of size compounds. If we’re going to take chances on people I think mediums make more sense.

Feels like the goal this year is to stabilise the list. Then 2025 will be about upgrading

When i say smalls i mean 'non talls', so yeh mediums

It’s so refreshing watching all the trade turmoil of the Houston deal and for once, we’re not in the middle of all this shit.

Contracted players....

I dont think Stringer is going to be smooth sailing

Any list manager worth the salt wouldnt be letting him go for just a 50 pick unless theyre doing something back for us at draft night

From here our move should be to target the brisbane picks 32 and 34. They still need points to cover a top 2 bid for Levi and top 30 bid for Marshall.

At least one, maybe two depending what we can get from players out. Practically no one else has the picks to do so atm.

Fantasy land but move Lav for pick 47 from the Saints, Stringer for 37 to GWS.

Give 40, 46, 47, 54 and 65 to Brisbane for 260 extra points on 32 and 34. Take 32, 34 and 37 at the draft.

Think with Sharp and Dev Robbo out they end with

32, 34, 42, 43, 45, 49 and 55 = ~2380

They will get more with points with bids and live trades

However they may be going into deficit, just not sure what the rules state and whether a 2nd rounder can drift past the 2nd round into the 3rd round based on deficit

Thats still about 500-800 points under by my guess. Levi top 2, probably 1 but Richmond might want the marketing bump. Plus Marshall 20-25.

49 from Melbourne probably gets Sharp which takes them to 2700-odd which should be enough with draft night trades
