Huh?
25
26

=27
We could even try to prise him out at the end of 25.
I doubt he is leaving at the end of next year.
Anyway he is two and a half seasons away “if” he leaves the Dogs and that is a big if .

And you are right.2027 . It was a typo. They should make the roads smoother.

With regards to KPF's, we simply need fitness for the guys on the list. Hunter (injured), Weidemann (failed fwd turned defender) are the obvious ones. We haven't had much depth to look at for some time.

Id move on both at years end and bring in one national draft KPF and potentially a rookie. Liam McMahon impressed me from the Carlton VFL program as a mark + kick key forward

Dont think KPFs are as huge an issue as people suggest

Wright and Caddy with Langford for the next 5 years is fine. Plus the potential of H.Jones or at worse as depth

It would be great to have Curnow, JUH, Bont and Trac but just not reality

My biggest concern is becoming the young group

Hobbs
Tsatas
Reid
Cox
Perkins

You cant afford to miss too much on top 10s

Unless Caddy becomes the alpha in our forward line it will become a big issue. Did you watch the game last night? We had no forward who can fly for a mark or jump into a pack. It’s defs an area we need to target: be that with a trade, FA or just turning the list over and drafting that type.

Wright has to be a concern. He has had 1 good season in the last 5 years and has not looked the same again after his shoulder injury . Do not disagree that the young blokes you mentioned have concerns for various reasons . That is why I have been more 4 or 5 years away than 2 or 3 years away.

Does a genuine KPF improve the later question though? I think it may very well.

Yeah we dug ourselves out of the Shiel trade hole with Caldwell, Durham and Martin only for poor selection and injury to bring us back in it.

That being said I think given our oodles of cap space and newfound competence on field we may be able to Carlton our way out of poor drafting by just adding new recruits each season

McMahon has looked like he has stepped up a bit this year back in a forward role.

We had 4 more marks i50 and they have Curnow/Mckay

Caddy is exactly what you described there

Who are some big body mids that might be available?

Setterfield is in borderline delist - even though he is best 22.
Hately is a possibility, but who else could be available?

Lots, just depends on how much you want to spend and how much improvement you see in said player

We also had 19 more inside 50's so you would expect we could find a few more marks. If we could have converted maybe 5 of those extra chances into a strong mark from a big forward the game looks different. That is the issue for mine. Yes we have Caddy on the horizon which is good but he has to get there.

lots of horses being hitched to the Caddy cart

Happens when there is only one cart.
Visentini has shown a couple of little glimpses but he is a long way back as a rookie.

Yeh for sure

I think you have to plan around top 10 picks 'getting there' otherwise you over capitalize in areas, thus under capitalize in others, unless they give a reason not to. Caddy hasnt

In albeit a short time, he has shown pretty good signs so far and good trajectory, with no debilitating injuries

Hopefully see him vs Eagles, see if HJ can find form in VFL for a week, although i do love his pressure for a big guy in a slow forward line that struggles to pressure

Try Baldwin as a clunking forward again? - athleticism questionable but a genuine competitor, has strong hands and can clunk under heat unlike most other talls on our list. Reliable kick too. He will probably struggle for a spot in the backline especially with Weids recent form.

Of course, but you've gotta be in it to win it! 🤓
I just do not get excited about maybe getting some bloke two years out. I know enquiries will be made behind the scenes but it is not my thing. I am a year by year person .

Not tall enough for the role in my view with his level of athleticism. He gets away with it as a defender as it is easier to read the play coming in and get set and do the body work. It is much harder the other way around. You have to be a really special talent like Hawkins.

Off season checklist

1. Jarrod Berry on a front-ended RFA deal to replace Setterfield
2. Mature small forward (Ainsworth as a FA, or alternative)
3. Draft Kako as a small forward.
