I'm looking for the 2003 draft section and its not on the front page, and doesn't come up in the search! Why have they not improved this? Its an absolute cow to find your way around, and its not getting any easier! Is it true that Telstra only want hits on the website and don't care how they get them?

AARGH!!

It was useable about 2 years ago. What I liked about it then was you were abble to get a live text commentary of all the games for free. I remember getting the scores for the comeback game through that method.

Excellent, thank you egor.

The big article on Carlton getting value for Angwin threw me there, along with talk about Dandenongs' Steven Salopek.

They're still rebuilding it after the deletion of all the info on the previous AFL site. Give them a couple more years.

In a couple more years the media rights will be up for grabs again and News Limited will try and get it back. There's something to look forward to. Telstra stick to phones and leave the Internet to someone who knows what to do

It's been that way for a long time.

Thank you EFC for an independent official club website. :)

I dont even bother with the AFL websight anymore.

And yes, thank you Essendon. Id have no idea whats going on if it weren't for their websight. I live in adelaide you see.. over here theres only 2 teams in the AFL.

Built by Telecom, it's purposely made to take ages to download so ppl will want cable internet.... so I'm told.
It breaks every code of website design ethics. A disgrace.

I have no doubt about that. It has only been loading consistently for me since I have had broadband.

A disgrace indeed. Any web page designer who cares would make their site as quick to load as possible.

I've never really thought about it in that regard before but it does make alot of sense.

The layout is all over the place, the content sucks and all the cool features it used to have are all but gone or you have to pay for them.

Disgraceful

I had a discussion with them and it seems they have had any number of 'professionals' and 'consultants' putting their two cents in. Unfortunately each two cents seems to add about 20KB in page weight.

Design by committee is never a good idea.

I've counted 83 links on the Saints.com home page! Anyone who's read any books on GUI's (Graphical User Interface's) or website design would know that when bombarded with too many choices, users usually try to escape. I know I do, it's information overload and especially annoying if you're looking for a particular link.

Considering the dominance of the sport, you would think they could produce a better website. Even the NRL website is a lot better than the garbage Telstra has produced. It looks terrible and the fact there is a fee for anything interesting is a joke.

I bypass it completely- the EFC site is what the AFL should be doing

Wanye Jackson said on Talking Footy earlier this year that there had been no official complaints about the AFL website since it was "improved" in 2002.

I know that I for one complained about it, and I very much doubt that many other footy fans also didn't complain. Perhaps when Wayne says "official" he doesn't mean the fans, after all, what do we matter?

The old AFL site was simpler and way better. The AFL seems to have this philosophy of "change for the sake of change" even if something doesn't need changing. Just look at some of rule changes to the game that have been introduced over the last couple of seasons.

It only caters for ppl on cable who also have extra cash to pay for actual content. All others can rack off. It's the way the AFL like it these days.

Same as the way they handle seating for the rich. I get angry when I look at the Medalion area at Docklands and it's 1/4 full while the 3rd level is packed. I'm not a communist but hell why don't the best seats go to the real fans - regardless of whether they are rich or not?

I'm not 100% but isn't the NRL website produced by Telstra?

I actually think the NRL website looks way more cluttered than the AFL one.
