GAZZA!! I guess he was in unparalleled form for the first half of the year and you tend to forget that. No crying tonight :)

Riewoldt should have won it, however, no one would begrudge Ablett winning it. Another wonderful season and he proved his worth again on the weekend.

Just hope he can take home the real treble in the last week of September (Brownlow, Norm Smith and Premiership).

Does anyone else think some players don't understand what Most Valuable means? Saints need Riewoldt to fire more than Geelong needs Ablett, hence more valuable

I reckon you are right but under that logic Geelong could never have an MVP winner with our current list. Perhaps they need to re-name the award to Most Outstanding Player Award?

People complain every year that the umpires shouldn't vote for the Brownlow but really any award is based on someone's opinion. At least the umps vote on a game they watch. Half the players just vote for players they worship, hear a lot about, or respect. Jonathan Brown is a great captain but Roo has been sensational this year. Ablett is a great footballer but Roo has dragged the Saints along in more games this year. And as a Bulldogs supporter, and I know he was never going to be in it, but Lake has been MORE VALUABLE to us this year than probably anyone anywhere else. I just think the term MOST VALUABLE should mean more than great player for the year.

Midfielder's award.
Shouldn't be voted on by [strike]umpires[/strike] players.

Just get all the Brownlow cliches out of the way.

Very surprised to see Riewoldt so low considering who was ahead of him.
