Thought I would watch the top of the table clash at Logan today. A very good crowd in attendance must have been 150 plus. I don't know why Munga ( the seagull with pointy elbows) thought the Logan boys only pull agood crowd when the Boofs are playing them. I'm not sure the Buffs are over the line in the Grand final as someone else suggested.
This game had it all. Actually it was almost identical to the Cobras v Boofs game a few weeks ago. Nambour flew out of the blocks and got way ahed early. And might I say- looked better than the home team. The Cobras pulled back to within 8 at quarter time trailing . 5-2 to 4-0 straight. Second qtr saw the Cobras choker hold applied, Nambour only added apoint Trailing 5-3 to 6-3. God that Cobras defense is stingy, Nambour had talent in the forward line but manage 2 goals from 2 shots in the third. Trailing 8-6 to 7-3. last quarter was similar. The northerners finished with 9-4, going down by 17 points, not very flash after kicking 5 goals in the first 20 minutes. Simalar to The Boofs v Cobs? Buoofs had 5 inside 15 minutes and managed 10 for the game.
I am impressed with the Cobras ability to wear down the opposition. The midfield are excellent, the Backs are very methodicall and no fuss. And the forwardv line put enough past you to kick a winning score. Well coached as well. One excellent positional change turned the game around.
Bring on the finals.
Would you like to share this master stoke with us? I saw Beenleigh on the weekend and I would have to say they are massive contenders this year!!!
Nambour have too many long term injuries and Im not sure if the weeks off will be good for Logan?

Caboolture still in the race though they had some very handy players. How did you rate beenleigh I thought we played a great style on the weekend I thought the umpiering was very average but that happenss sometimes! I think caboolture can beat Nambour if they have to play them in week 2.

Advise sit as far away from the club house as possible unless u like having abuse hurled at u ur partners and ur kids. Expect to be flipped the bird at least 3 times from players coach and supporters evin if u say nothing . But should be a good game.

np I have to be honest there was no abuse no birds flipped... A couple of keen surporters (happy to give some Nambour players some advice haha) on the fence in the last quarter but thats normal, all in all A great game of footy and a nice view from up the top...

Yeah well said Jed, Thats the way I saw it too. Fingers crossed its a Nambour cobras GF But The Boofs look certain to spoil the party. I'm hoping the big spending "silvertails" from Beenleigh come a cropper.

after all that was said about logan and there ground i wasnt really expecting a warm welcome. but it was easily the best umpiring we have had all year, and was a good hard game. a nice loud crowd but certainly not as bad as some people have said. and most of the logan boys seem like good guys as well.

Ive a actually heard that its not to bad, must just be a Logan beenleigh thing wich is healthy for local footy!

Mate I hate the week off but hopefully that will help me get some of my players back. Haven't even been able to field a full side for 2 weeks. Killin me.

No such thing as sewn up mate. At this stage we wouldn't be considered the form ressies team I wouldn't think.

Great words from the coach, trying to slow the horse and cart up, very experienced there Morro... As long as the blokes have gotten the straight sets departure out of their minds....

Spoken like a true coach Morro, very wise words... I think I would be more worried about the mental effect of last year's straight sets exit... I am sure you will have that addressed though!!

Good points made about this weekends games not being shoe ins... Time will tell but Redcliffe in the 5 for mine....

Mate u seem stuck on this straight sets thing. My ressies finished 4th last year so hardly a straight sets daunting experience. Especially considering it was 12 months ago and half the team is new this season.

Or are you referring to the seniors?

Yeah mate you've probably got me there, just hoping there isn't a hang over from it... So both finals up north then next weekend? Nambour v beenleigh and caboolture v redcliffe (tbc) at home....

I wonder what the league will do if coomera have to play Logan in the 2's and the snr matches are at nambour and caboolture???

Then they will have to travel as i recall Caboolture had a home elimination final last year and Beenleigh played UQ up there

Bananabenda, I enjoy reading your posts. Can you please shed some light why you hate the 'boofs' so much?

I agree I hope it is a Nambour v Logan Grand Final, hopefully at Yeronga or Coorparoo would be a nice setting. Possum for best on already you can smell it!

I was there during the split. If you want the story I will private message it to you. Unbiased just the facts. I know half the Boofs and most of the Cobs.

It is such a shame that the club is spoken about in this light... The club has assisted where possible every player who comes through the club... I am not sure id this is you Kenny because if it is, it would be strange for you to say that about our club happydaze when you came to the past players reunion a couple of weeks ago and didn't go to watch your new club... Mmmm...

In regards to the 19 players, we DO NOT and have never deliberately put 19 players on the ground. If you are going to call us cheats happydaze, say it straight and we will go from there... Be careful what you say on-line as once published always published...

Given that I wasn't playing, I coached the first quarter... We had 5 senior players play the 2's and another 3 ressies players who helped out, given this, we started with 3 on the bench and interchange had 3 numbers (get ur facts right)... At some stage the 4th reserves player came down after qtr time and was put on the ground before the count as we were sure we only had three reserves still... My understanding is that the rule of back to 0 was removed about 3 yrs ago.... Hence why try were given a kick in the middle and a 50.... So glad I could clear that up for anyone concerned...

Otherwise, some solid results for everyone who was in the hunt.. Coomera and redcliffe all tied up for 5th...

that is absolutely ridiculous. not calamvales 19 men (although seriously how can you not notice who you have on the bench - we all have whiteboards and magnets), but the penalty applied. so what is in place to discourage teams to play with 19 or 20 men? (aside from shame) a 50 metre penalty? its worth playing with 19 every game if all that will come of it is a 50 metre penalty. if that is the case its a joke and the league should take a look at it.

whilst we are on the rules, what the hell was going on with the morooka vs UQ game when the UQ waterboy was in the 50 when moorooka was having a set shot and the umpire called it and SENT THE MOOROOKA PLAYER BACK TO THE OUTSIDE THE 50? Moorooka penalised whilst taking a shot because the UQ waterboy was in the 50. If thats the case i say flood the 50s with water carriers everytime. ridiculous.

Most ridiculous thing i have ever heard if this actually happened. I spoke to the umpires as a runner to clear upa few rules about that and the only time you can't have water/runners in the 50 is during a kick out from a behind. Also the 3mtr rule applies around free kicks

Yep, it did happen I can back up Baz's comment. Everyone stood there looking at each other like WTF, shouldn't that be a 50 to Moorooka.

Umpiring has been appalling this year with direct reference to decisions around paying play on advantage, seen some barry crocker's this season.

There is one shining light of an umpire we usually get, he's very tough but is consistent and thats all we genuinely want as players. Richardson I think his name is, tall skinny, rednut, usually wears a hat and zinc cream and knows some players by names. Shaun Grigg is good too. Favorite umpire to watch would have to be the one with the Joe Dirt mullet that does a few ressies games.

Watto i think the best umpire to watch purely for his flair is the guy who umpired beenleigh uq seniors at oval 7. He had the fluro orange boots go with hsi uniform and just watchign him zip around teh oval it was great fun having a laugh

yep, those boots are fabulous. ALMOST as putrid as Morro's Purple boots!
