I beleive Nambour and Coomera will be in Div 2 so keeping it at 11 teams so byes again....

Stupid decision yet again by AFLQ to continue to have a bye in the Div 2 comp if both do come in. Playing 16 games per team per season is pathetic, we should be playing at least a minimum of 18 home and away games!

Having the bye also disadvantages clubs because their is a week where they can't generate any revenue from canteen and bar sales (home team) which is the backbone of ensuring a club can continue to exist.

No doubt the argument about cricket season colliding with footy season will be the reasoning behind the fixtures but that can be sorted by starting the season a little later if need be.

No offense to Nambour coming into div 2, but the travelling factor is just getting worse each year, only good thing to come out of all of this is that we no longer have to travel down to Robina!

Care to name any names with the old boys or magpies players? My understanding was the old boys left because of a falling out with coaches and committee. Would expect there would have to be a bit of groveling to get them back, either that or cash. As for magpies players, are we talking ones or twos players? If it was twos, you'd better keep recruiting because they aren't much good at the magpies so you'll still be way behind.

The Western Magpies reserves played finals in Div 1 State League for the last 2 years so i dont think the talent is the issue... it is just that the senior team couldn't pay for top quality recruits to add the class required to the up & coming young players..

I couldnt imagine there will be to many players crossing the hill to Kenmore, have heard that a lot of the senior players will be going to other clubs to continue there development in Div 1 plus with the Magpies being he feeder club for Brisbane Reserves there will be opportunities for alot of the regular reserves players from the last 2 years to be senior players in the PHC.

15 minutes up the road, the Caboolture Lions are your best bet. Same comp as Redcliffe, but I know of at least 2 Dockers supporters around the club as well.

Seriously though, growing club, made the Semi's this season, losing to the eventual premiers by a goal in a hectic match, with plenty of good young talent coming through, and a great footy club ethos around the place.

Caloundra turned down the leagues offer of going up to the next level.Might be offered to the kings, but can't see them going up.
no reason for them to go up. if you do you need to spend a truck load of $$$ in recruitment to compete against Noosa, PBC, Maroochy, etc. Also we'd need to fix the ground as well, gets a bit chopped up during the winter months.
Coorparoo need a couple of years up around the top 3 or 4 to be considered serious contenders before they even consider a move to PHC. They were lucky to get as close as they did in the GF.

Is Ben Gibson heading back to Morningside next year

Both clubs would need to recruit heavily to ensure they are competetive.

Agreed but Robina willl more than likely struggle like last time they went up then whinge that they want to come back so they can win there 100th Z grade flag. Kedron are a club that is on the move and will work hard to get the club going like Kenmore did in div1 a few years back. It may take a couple of years but they will be strong side in that comp eventually

Will Griffith still be div 2 after this season? Surely they would be dropped down a div after not winning a game?

Div2 & 3 do not work like that. Div 2 is a as low as you can go with a 2 side club. Div 3 is for clubs with one side. Hence the promotion of Coomera even though they finished 3rd I think in Div 3.

Griffith will be a good side in the seasons ahead they have good structures in place and a good player pool they just lack talent.

Yes it is silly

Maybe they should look at at 3 x 8 team comps or 2 x 8 and 1 x 7 and work something out with the 1 team div 3 sides. The div 3 comp is ordinary because there is only 4 or five sides. And div 1 and 2 21 teams. There are obvious issues with the reserve grade comp in div 3 but worth thinking about. You could also have two div 3 teams teaming up like Collingwood Park and Jimboomba one playing seniors and one reserves. I am sure Jimboomba would enjoy the increase in level and the power the drop in level. You may also see some other clubs maybe throwing in a thirds side to fill up the Div 3 Reserves. I know a lot of clubs hesitate at thirds because they play against very good 3rd div sides that would solve that issue. Its a lateral thought but what they have come up with this year doesent make sense.

It will be interesting to see how the Leggers go next season - I believe there will be new coaches in both senior grades.

PETITION - AFLQ State Association Div 2 - Increase Rounds From 18 to A Minimum Of 20 in Season 2011!

G'day Everyone,

Can you please sign and pass on this petition to everyone you know. I'm sure those that are involved with our division will know that an 18 round season with 2 byes (16 games each) is pathetic and needs to be increased!

Whilst the fixture hasn't been released for next season, AFLQ will no doubt continue with the same 18 round roster as this year seeing as their is still the same amount of teams in the comp (11).

Please go to http://www.gopetition.com/petition/41304.html and sign this petition. Please pass it on to as many people as you can. If we can get enough signatures then maybe the powers that be will do something about our pathetic roster!
