UQ Div 1 62 d Coorparoo 25

I'm sure there were players missing for both teams so probably can't read too much into it.

Didn't know the score in the ressies but it seemed to be pretty even to me.
Was windy down there during the day, so the skills and obvious lack of match practice did stand out. Wouldn't have thought either team would play their best sides given it was only a practice match.
I think Wynnum beat Aspley, but not sure by how much.

Well last nights Game for Kenmore and Alex proved that kenmore were not as far from the pace as most thought. Kenmore still lost by 80 points but it was not the 200 point trouncing that was predicted by hartlett.

Alex hills looked as if they were well drilled and had some good disposal and ball use.
Kenmore looked as if they needed a fair bit more fine tuning to push for a spot in the finals this year.

Does anyone know the results of the other practice matches around the place?

;) If I was playing for Kenmore i wouldnt get my hopes just yet...Considering The Bombers Had atleast 7 Regular senior Players out through rest/injury/ other commitments... And considering we had 6 under 18's playing on saturday in greasy Conditions You boys were lucky we didnt Dish out a good old floggin...

L.O.S.E.R.! Our club sent a committee member over to watch last year's 2nd vs 3rd teams. The reports are that Alex Hills have lost their entire mid-field, including their first and second ruckman and lost their gun forwards. They were apparently a shell of last year's team. Will not play finals by all accounts. You have clearly been talking garbage since you got on here.

Sure Kenmore were very, very ordinary, but we already knew that. I can't see how you can think that winning by 90 points over them proves anything especially when our scout was told they had 3 or 4 of their guns out. Could have made the difference....

Hahahahaa...Loving this s**t.....
like i just said we have atleast 7 regular senior players out...
and played with 24 and rotated players of bench lol..
Pretty sure We have lost 4 maybe 5 players from last year..
But nothing As bad as your Mate says... He will have egg of his face come round 2.

As was mentioned earlier we had 2 of our best players out for the Alex Hills match and we still managed a very reasonable showing. Our last half was very good and it was obvious that the boys began to gel more as the game went on. In fact, we outscored Alex against the wind in the last quarter.

Apparently Alex Hills were weaker than last year, but still showed the signs of being a good side. In saying that, I think we can take them come round 2. Especially if they're all missing for Google and Hartlett's gay wedding. Lol.

With the results from the matches on the weekend, my new ladder is
1. Caloundra
2. Wynnum
3. UQ
4. Kenmore
5. Coorparoo
6. Alex Hills
7. Yeronga
8. Aspley

Alex Hills FC & certainly I have no idea who Hartlett is & I'm pretty sure he is no member of our footy club because if he was he should remember in 2007 & 2008 we played practise matches against Yeronga & Wynnum loosing by over 100pts. One thing you learn in the hard times is respect for your opponent & that doesn't change when you start to show improvement which Alex Hills did in 2009 if there is one thing i have learned over many years of football is show respect to all football clubs & there players
Well said Graham. I think you should all be mindful that you play footy because you love it. Sadly I can no longer play due to bad ankles, but I stiil love my club and the mateship it provides. Sportsmanship and respect for the opposition should be paramount. There is a place for passion, but there is no place for arrogance. It's a great game - let's give people & the sport the respect they deserve.

I admire your loyalty to your club and your willingness to predict so far into the future. Saw our guys play Uni on the weekend and must say I thought both were quite good for this stage of the season. We were a bit undermanned so would hope that we will improve on that showing. Uni were impressive but I have a niggling doubt that their game plan won't match it with the bigger teams. There's only one way to win in this comp and that does not involve a high possession, kick it around the flanks strategy that Uni has. It's important to be direct. Our guys were outplayed that's for sure, but i think when we get a few more back our direct style will will more than compensate for any skills gap.

The old kicky and hopey? And you call yourself the strategist!

Well what can I say.. I did predict we would get over Cooparoo easily... Gibson or no Gibson. Tough windy conditions but our hard work over the off season certainly paid off. Not sure what old mate strategist is on about. Only reason we went around the flanks on the weekend was due to injury and absence of our key players.

Nutter and Begley were both out injured. Our ruckman, Burgo, lined up at FP, because he had a bad hamstring, but he didn't last long. Our CHF Hollywood played, but he only played at 50% due to injury. I would worry about your own team before ripping everyone else's mate.

Our best players for the weekend were probably Josh Beattie, Luke Wray, Heater and Hunty. They really showed some class, especially considering the conditions. I am tipping beattie for the league medal. The little fella just seems to find so much footy everygame and have so much time to use it well because of his speed.

Old school footy needs grow some nuts and stop getting so emotional. I guess I would be sad as well if I was in his situation. Cannot wait until May 15th!

agree with Graham and oldschoolfooty. sorry for getting worked up before, just annoys me when tossers shoot their mouths off like Hartlett. looks like the contenders this year will be Caloundra, Wynnum and UQ with Coorparoo, Yeronga and Alex Hills fighting for fourth spot.

Graham, oldschool, homer and goalkicker, how do you rate your teams compared to last year? from what i hear caloundra are big improvers with the rest falling off the pace fairly dramatically....

Footygirl78 Alex Hills have retained 15 of last years Grand Final side no real big names have been recruited to the club but in saying that we are more than happy to promote our U/18's of 2009/10 to play senior footy

any other league medal predictions this early on?? gibson has afl potential?? or so the story goes. william broome still at wynumm??

looks as if the lions , bears and the bombers have A-lot to live up this year, even contests across the board.. too early for first round tips?

Coorparoo
UQ
Wynumm
Caloundra

Easy round to tip really.

I think you are a bit rich putting the bears and uni in the same sentence as Alex. Their arrogance is astounding. Yeronga are the only team that come close to them in arrogance terms. And it even shows on this forum. Look at the rot Hartlett and Chicka go on with.

What position did you play on the weekend Hartlett??

was just meant in terms of potential for the season..
wether alex excell or fail, and how you blokes and the bears fare with the fluctuations in player stocks..
in all, an even comp with interest every week by the looks..

Is Gibson actually playing? Word was Morningside are still talking to him to play.

More like your bar takings were down and you couldn't afford lukey's price tag. That's probably where the other 7 went too.
If you only new Bear_in_there & I can tell you straight Luke didn't leave over money nor did any other player, MONEY at Alex Hills you are joking

"Mighty Mayne Tigers", now there is the funniest thing I have read on here all day.

Can you start again please, this time leaving the humour out?

Sorry Tiger G, I have to agree with Lion Man there. The only thing poorer than the Mayne Tigers' bank balance is their on-field performance. Shame on you!

no humour applied as graham henwood said have some respect for other clubs mayne have a lot of staunch and very loyal supporters and players voluntaring their time and effort to keep this historical club alive and competing. so no they're always mighty to me and alot of others

they actually ended making a profit in recent years, onfield performance hasn't been great for many years but look back a past they were one of the most sucessful clubs in the comp before souhtport entered. mayne still at this stage holds the most premierships total at 15 played in many grand finals and finals. so very proud club just unfortunate things went sour for them. at present all there players, staff all put in 100% they will regain their success one day.so no shame whatsoever!!!! go the Mighty Mayne Tigers!!!
