We've delisted Waterhouse and Henry
Someone at the club really likes Brooke Smith… she must look great at training because honestly even at SANFLW level she really stank it up.

Horribly rough on Henry, moves interstate at 18 apparently impresses but does the shoulder in a practice game and tries to play out the season barely fit and then gets cut. Perhaps would’ve been granted more time if went down the surgical route originally instead, looked to have talent.

I wonder if it was a mutual thing? She might have been looking to get back home and have a fresh start.

Agreed on Smith, I'd be very happy to be proven wrong, but I just don't see it with her. She's looked completely unable to get involved in the game every time I've seen her.

So does that mean we will make three selections? Or have I counted wrong?

Bit rough on Henry who never got a game, but them's the breaks I guess. Smith survives another year.

Edit: Oh, Levy was on our Cat B list, right? That accounts for the discrepency. So yes, two selections in the draft.
Smith’s and somehow staying on Crows playing lists when they should be cut aye? Matthew in the early 2000s & Brodie now Brooke, Levy was promoted to the main list last year but honestly still don’t have much of an idea how the rookie list actually works currently, can you only have one? Or can you have two? If it’s one does Boyle-Carr get promoted and Cronin added? So have no idea it they have 2 or 3 selections.

Clear as mud! I guess we'll find out. If we do make three selections, our third pick is currently Pick 70.

Careful mentioning Matthew Smith, you'll summon the ghost of macca23!

Wouldn’t be surprised if it was mutual and wanted to head home, lucky for the Crows Smith doesn’t seem homesick at all!

Boileau will need to come on strong (& be actually played in position) otherwise that is shaping up to be yet another write off of a Draft literally only a year in.

If they do get a late pick, although highly unlikely to happen… rather than selecting another 18 year old I would love them for a change to actually start rewarding someone who’s put in the hard yards locally again either as a training player at sessions all season with the team like Mel Anderson from South Adelaide or look for a mature body who’s plugged away and done really well in the SANFL like Norwood pair Tahlita Buethke and Kiana Lee, both could readily play at the top level.

Cue them instead selecting some interstate random who came to the game late or they decide to get the band back together and select Nikki Gore again 😓

Kiana is an interesting one, shes got all the talent in the world but the lowest confidence I have even seen.... and in womens footy thats saying something. Not 100% sure shes got the tank to make it but she would be worth a crack.

Just on this, it reminds me a bit of Biddell in her first couple of seasons, looking all at sea and unable to impact the contest in any meaningful way as a forward. I had totally written her off, and then she suddenly moved positions and turned into a genuine superstar out of nowhere.

Maybe we should look into reinventing Smith as a forward for next year. Especially given that it seems unlikely we're going to recruit a ready-made one with our two draft picks.

What's the worst that could happen? She'd have to be the leading delist candidate for next year as things currently stand.

That’s really interesting to know, I was a big doubter when I first watched her play as really didn’t rate her skills highly but the backend of the last SANFLW season changed my mind. Absolute plug in and play player you can put anywhere and she’ll do a heck of a job, her repeat efforts are a standout compared to others in that competition especially in that GF loss and it might not always look pretty but just finds the goals. Not a lot look it at that level but you watch her play she looks like a higher level player.

A very smart footy brain, I saw her destroy a stacked Morphettville Park side in a GF almost single handly.

She struggled early days at the Eagles and then at Norwood, super introverted character who some might have said wasn't the greatest teammate because she's so shy. Stays away from the drama that can sometimes come with women's footy.

Happy to see her flourishing this year, her finals series was huge. Buethke probably more of an "aflw ready" player from the whole package perspective but Kiana would do well in a professional environment.

Aleisha Gepp is one at Sturt i hope nominates, super footballer.

Gepp is another that trained with the Crows over the season I believe, seems to me to be similar to a ‘Nikki Gore’ type; repeat stoppages & ground ball efforts who uses her athleticism to cover some skill deficiencies. Agree Buethke already should have been given a go at AFLW level.

I couldn’t care less if my thoughts on a football club administrator’s performance bothers someone but if you want to throw around a flippant comment/accusation directly at me that I was simply having a “bitch & moan” at the head of football at a football club based on no evidence whatsoever but based on some sort of weird personal vendetta I feel it perhaps does require a full measured response to defend my stance given without doing so it would confirm that lack of objectiveness you provide when it comes to this matter is also correct and can’t be questioned.

I addressed that matter, then simply went on to sum up the recent recruitment at this club given it was the conclusion of this current trade period. I could’ve maybe done that in another post but couldn’t be bothered double posting.
Fair enough. Apologies for having a go. Harps is likely hanging up his boots next year so change will be coming. Having said that, id like to see coaching changes sooner rather than later.

For the bored or inquisitive

List size is 30 and clubs have to have a minimum of 2 selections. The Rookie List is to get around not having played for a school or club prior to Draft.
Sad I am replying to myself but Northern Academies remain for AFLW. I don't mind except for Brisbane. Gold Coast, GWS & Sydney need the leg up.

Yes, it's still irritating to me that the NT zone was taken away from us because we were too dominant (that wasn't the stated reason, but we all know that's it) and then given, in part, to the only team that could reasonably argue to have equalled us in Brisbane.

Footy heartland yada yada yada..... ridiculous decision by the AFL yet again
