The average crowd in the AFLW has been 15K or thereabouts. The average AFL crowd last year was just under 30K.

And yet the entire salary cap for the AFLW league is about 1/10th of the cap of ONE AFL side.

This is grossly unfair.

The AFL is basically banking of the gratefulness of AFLW players to avoid paying them properly.

I think this is disgraceful.
Why the **** are they getting paid that much?

Let's not get too carried away, the crowd numbers will not be sustainable over the full 8 weeks. I do agree however that they are grossly underpaid and the quality of the matches I have watched has surprised me.

I want to see more goals scored ... not watch a rugby game. They deserve to be paid 1/10th
Right now it's more like 1/100th. The entire league is a tenth of one AFL side. Also you may not like it, but people are going to games. The AFL has a pay problem with the women too.

Aren't these crowds getting in for free?

Player payments are justified. They won't sustain an average of 15,000 spectators if they're only averaging 7 goals a game.

How much would they earn in the kitchen?

I think that the AFLW players (who I admire and respect very much by the way) should be paid via the poker machine revenue generated by each club.

Whast say you Lethality?

(And yes, I am aware that you are a life-long supporter of the Pokie-free Fremantle Dockers. I am led to believe that you have a purple anchor tattooed on each butt cheek and when you bend over it says "Which way to the post office?" in Mandarin. )

Perhaps you could pay your players in food coupons at the Geraldton IGA.

Given that some clubs earn more than 10 million a year from pokies, this would be overpaying them a bit. Hopefully the AFL can cut down on the exploitation of problem gamblers and pensioners.
