Then demand a pay rise!

It's already been converted into dollars, just not for the on-field talent. It's embarrassing that they played a game watched by 25K at the ground, and a million people on TV, and these women were paid peanuts. There is no justification for this kind of egregious usery based on those numbers.

It's funny isn't it? But it has nothing....I REPEAT NOTHING to do with gender. Good on them having a go at it.

I think majority of anger (from myself anyway) comes from media outlets forcing everyone to eat the hype and enjoy it when observations said otherwise. It's all extreme positivity about everything in the league, every player is a 'cult hero' and some how this has become immediately a 'successful initiative' without consistent facts to back that up - a free entry opening round does not qualify. That's what rustles my jimmies, the hype lid has exploded into the next galaxy, SJW's are surfacing and you're sexist if you didn't enjoy it.

But you can't just "not listen to it" or "don't watch it" on the news, because dare you check social media, it's all you see.

I know most of the criticism isn't about gender, just hilarious that everyone's whinging from the fact that there were dropped handballs (like no one's ever watched a Carlton game before), or that there weren't bloody shuttle trams

The facts would more likely be that once you factored in the marketing, set up costs, coaches and all the other crap to get a d grade game of football to the level of public attention it has to date, it would be a huge loss to date.

The average crowd in the AFLW has been 15K or thereabouts. The average AFL crowd last year was just under 30K.

And yet the entire salary cap for the AFLW league is about 1/10th of the cap of ONE AFL side.

This is grossly unfair.

The AFL is basically banking of the gratefulness of AFLW players to avoid paying them properly.

You're also forgetting to taker into account what the $ were from the gates at the AFLW games. $0 was generated, so the only revenue came from catering.
The games on the weekend were loss makers. That said, I agree they are underpaid and I was pleasantly surprised at the spectacle. Skills weren't great, but the physical contest was excellent.

I think it's best that there is solidarity between the two. Funny how both the AFL and AFLW are being underpaid. Gil really needs to fix this.
