Adelaide v Richmond
Friday 8 September
5:05pm AEST/4:35pm ACST
Ikon Park

Adelaide overran Port in the second half in round 1, while Richmond upset Brisbane in Brisbane.

Richmond have been the biggest improvers of the past couple of seasons, and will be hard to beat. We can’t afford a second quarter like last week, but if we play like the we did in the second half, we can make it two from two to start the season.

Didn't Richmond have a easy 2022 fixture and lose all their games against anyone good?

Then this year Brisbane got gutted and may not even be that good?

On the other hand - They did dominate us last year and should've beaten us. So there is that.

They had an easy fixture but they did also beat Brisbane last season. Would've nevertheless missed top 4 if not for eking out a draw in R10 against NM who were resting their captain. Then bowed out of finals in straight sets with losses to those same 2 teams, by 17 and 36 points respectively.

Kelly got off with a fine for her tackle 🙌

Probably a little lucky given the crack down but given that player from the Hawks only got 1 for her’s which was a real nasty one they set the precedence this week.

Who decided to play a match at 5.05pm on a Friday? Horrendous timing and a disservice to women's football
The stupidity is more they knew they had to schedule 9 games around the men’s finals and did not schedule any game in WA where they could’ve played Sunday evening under lights at West Coast’s home ground if need be. The other scheduling of 2 overlapping games on Saturday & Sunday probably unavoidable but being happy scheduling a Saturday morning match but not a Sunday morning match is inconsistent at best.

There’s probably no easy answer to scheduling this week but agree it doesn’t allow any momentum to build or the competition to flourish.

Random question, I'm not sure if anyone knows the answer. AFLW now has an interchange cap of 60, with a free kick + 50m penalty paid if the cap is exceeded. What happens if a team has used all 60 interchanges, and then an injury happens? Do they just have to suck up the 50m penalty to get the player off the field?

Presumably clubs will be expected to keep a few interchanges in reserve but geez, seems like an issue.

Interestingly, apparently the Crows had five players with 60% or less game time (Tonon 60%, Bonner 58%, Ballard 57%, McKinnon 55%, and Goodwin 52%) which is the equal most of any club (Sydney and West Coast also had five players). Funny to have our lead goalscorer off the field for nearly half the match!

By comparison, every Port player played at least 60% gametime.

Presume it’s the same rule as the men’s interchange cap. I presume serious injuries that occur on ground like concussions/players stretchered off don’t count but other injuries would mean you have to stay on, think the North Melbourne incident earlier this year was partly due to a North player copping a corky and hobbling off.

Cold, windy, wet and absolutely miserable today

Expect to see some long sleeves there is a real chill in the air

Speaking of which, with the alignment of our jumpers which is great, what clash will the women be wearing today?
