Round 8 v COLLINGWOOD

Round 9 v SYDNEY

Round 10 v HAWTHORN
Floating: Friday 28 October – Sunday 30 October | Time TBC | Fremantle Oval

Here's a piece on last week's draft (check out the bloody awesome video summary of the night in there):

The draw isn't the easiest - Brisbane away in round 1, Adelaide & Melbourne at home, play two of the 4 expansion sides (missing arguably the two strongest in Essendon & Port so no Gemma Houghton rematch), Eagles on a Thursday night and only one Melbourne game (5pm on a Friday in Footscray I mean North Carlton - easier than Footscray but good luck getting to that).

How do you think we'll go? I think we'll make finals but will be harder this time round. Possibly Brisbane/Melbourne favourites, and never write off the Crows.

Really tough draw, playing all the top four from last season. Expansion sides aren't necessarily going to be the freebies they have in the past, given the amount of player movement. And on that point, we've lost some quality. I'm not one for preseason predictions (or pregame, for that matter), but at this point in time, I'll be happy if we just make finals.

Spoiler alert for the upcoming season.

Beat the expansion/average teams. Play finals and lose against the top sides.

Repeat for season 8.

Scanlon for Cain

Franklin for Houghton

?? for Morrison (Need to unearth something here)

Roux needs to finally step up, will the shorter off season mean she comes back fitter? we can only hope

Lally is the wildcard, hopefully she cements a spot in the team

Will Seth be a good "pickup" ?

all the others lost weren't exactly world beaters so we seem to have drafted to cover our losses (or will upgrade from inside)

Does Verrier step up to midfield this season?

The Antonio's can't stay good forever and Bowers is 30, need a lot of inner growth this season

Nikki gore should move into the middle as well.

Think Verrier moving up the ground is a good call, we have a couple of backs now to cover

Edit: they must be talking about Scanlon after all that.

The headline is different to the article. She stepped away from AFLW football but is leaving the door open for a possible return in the future.
Unlike Duffy she didn’t nominate for the draft.
And there seems to a big difference in how Stewart’s former teammates think of her if you look at their social media posts after the Grand Final win.

Melbourne has a very similar draw to us. It's like they've broken the draw into two parts. One for the sides who have demonstrated competence and one for those that haven't (whether given a chance yet or not).

Short season + massive upheaval = randomness aplenty

Yeah I realised after I posted that it was about Scanlon. Jaz has moved away from top level footy, maybe just for now, maybe for good. 🤷🏻‍♀️

All of the top 4 from last play year each other.
It will be interesting if the way the draw is set-up leads to a few of the strugglers and/or newbies get a bit of a leg-up all the way to the finals, while a few who are right up there miss out. Certainly, that's the biggest risk, especially with such an abbreviated fixture as it stands.

reminiscent of GC being gifted a final in 2020 and we absolutely destroyed them

Purple looks ok on darker skin complexion no?

Eldest daughter will shortly be a train on with Freo. Trent called her this morning.

Woo! I knew we would get them eventually.

Face it Biggie, no better time to go purple than right now!

Does she play for West Perth and is she one of the girls I mentioned before the draft that we'd be interested in?
Yes WP.

Hmm not sure buddy. I don’t believe so.

She’s an attacking half back flanker - we call her the seagull. But she won’t shy away from the contest.

Avg 15 disposal game - 7.5 of these contested.

17 (18 in Dec) 163cm

She laid 57 tackles in her first year of league (little sis nailed 64) and runs at near 50% by foot. Will improve that efficiency with more training etc.

I really hope Scanlon proves to be a gun

will be so sweet that West Coast were gifted all those player but their arrogance in not allowing them to participate in the GF let one slip through the cracks (Scanlon turned down an early signing due to that)

Having said that, did WCE go back on that in the end? Western played the GF I think
