Good on North, would have preferred them to win over Brisbane. And their supporters I guess have to have something to smile about.

But can’t help but feel bitter. The last team that went through a season undefeated had their premiership cancelled. Who else but us??
I couldn't help but think the same thing when I saw North had won it (didn't watch the game, just saw the result). The AFL stinks

Yeah, it's bullshit. We would've been the '72 Dolphins of the AFLW, now all the talk will be of this Roo's side. Very Freo.

Gotta say, was pretty happy with the women’s season. Exceeded expectations by making finals then won a final. The emergence of MIM STRONG 💪, a formed West Coast player starring, and the team’s overall resilience despite some nasty injuries were all highlights. Onwards and upwards!!

Trade I think is the least of our worries

Unless we trading in more skills based assistants

We need the ladies skills improved . Until then trading in even skilled players will still not work unless we get a huge number of new skilled players .

The ladies are still learning . Still early in their football journey . But I truly think the basics are taking a lot longer

How to hold the ball to kick it . With youth we used to video the kids during kicking and use that to show them what they doing right and wrong . Then discuss how to improve . Focus on skills and we will win more

Just my 2cents . Probably many more reasons behind the skills set being low .

Trade update .
Think it opens on the 5th?

Still only linked to Smith.

Even harder to lure players over here in the women’s game than the men’s. Gabby Newton was a huge get for us, hopefully we can bring in more experienced quality for 2025 because we’re not that well placed in the draft.

Yes the salary for the women really doesn't incentivise moving to a new state.
Whilst i see why they doing open drafts to make it more like the men's game i really think until the game is as big as the men's, with TV rights/ crowds/ advertising making enough money to pay the women a better pay then clubs should focus more on developing Community football and recruit locally. Too late for that now i guess.

I have said it before and will say it again, the only player the women have in our team that plays the game like it should be played is Mim Strom.
She has footy smarts. Can marks a ball, can kick a ball,.Knows where to postion herself to win possession.Uses hand ball as it should be.
She know the game, and it shows.

She has improved so much

Have the northern teams got academy access in the women's as well?
yes different bidding system iirc

will look it up

edit:
“Matching a bid by a Club means using a selection in the AFLW Draft which falls within one round of the bid. For example, where a bid falls with the sixth selection of the first round (selection 1.06), the matching Club must use their next selection by the sixth selection of the second round (selection 2.06).”

Thanks. I'm surprised (but shouldn't be, it is the Afl).
