Can't believe I am doing this but I have side with the Essendon supporters on this.

This would have to be the most sanctimonious piece of toss I have read in a long while.

You underestimate the anger of Saints members and supporters at continuing scandals. We drew the line with the Essendon import Lovett, then Gram and Milne is on notice, pending a legal resolution. Not only have we had far more than our share of scandals, we are fed up with them.

Sanctimonious, really? Because we accept that if a player has crossed the line, we will no longer tolerate it. Read the tens of thousands of posts and comments by Essendon supporters. Go to the Saints board, you will see that it is the opposite of your cheap shot, we will not accept drug cheats, or further scandals at the club.

We are talking about St Kilda player who tested positive to PEDS. No such thing has happened at Essendon. No one has tested positive. Also the supplement in question, which is not a PED, has been used by Melbourne players as well.

Not one article written about Melbourne at all. AFL were quick to protect them. Just one article written about the Saint player. Don't expect much more to be written, maybe couple more.

Hawthorn, Collingwood and West Coast are going to get away with it as well. No investigation will be conducted, and no media frenzy about their possible drug use either.

But AFL has been happy to watch us being dragged through the mud.

The fact that no one at Essendon has tested positive means NOTHING. You'd have to be a complete idiot to test positive for a PED.

Can't wait to hear the response from the Saints fans considering some of them have been so active in sinking the boots in to Essendon on the ASADA board.:D

If he is guilty throw the book at him. Would have to be a complete idiot taking a banned substance after the Essendon mess. Get rid of him.

That's not what he said. Have another read.

He is saying allow the proper processes to be implemented. Support your club/player or at least reserve judgment until you have a clear set of findings. The holier than thou routine of damning your own player to appear morally superior to nasty Essendon supporters is very transparent, especially when you have no facts on the matter

No one has damned our own players. You should note the hypothetical "if" in all those posts.

Is it false morality? Not from me it isn't. If a Saints player has taken banned substances, get rid of him. Same if it is a Blues player or Hawk or Cat etc etc.

I barrack for Saints but that does not inform my morality.

St Kilda (and the AFL) have the chance to look principled and dignified in this - if it's true.

All they need to do is come out and be totally open about it and act immediately. If that means naming and suspending the player then so be it.

It would suck for St Kilda if it's true, but if they deal with it and get it out of the way in the next few days they can paint it in the best possible light. Going down the Essendon route of denying everything will just put them in the same boat as Essendon in the court of public opinion. I don't think any club wants to be in that boat.

Great response by Saints fans.

Hopefully it's nothing, or if its something, it's not Jack Steven.

God no don't even think it.

Yes hopefully the B sample will came back ok and we can all chill.

But if it does not then we will simply have to deal with it. No matter who it is.

Quite franky I consider that there will be players at every club who have something banned in their system. Some deliberately, some due to being stupid dropkicks who could not tie their own shoe laces and do not check.

Cannot say I am surprised it is a St Kilda player who has an "irregular" sample. Our players are very talented at putting us in the shit.:(

But if it is what we fear and one of our players has been doping then they must go. We do not want them.

I said SOME of them not all. I do agree, though, it's not great for the Saints and the game itself. I reckon there might be more than a few players at other clubs that would be getting a bit worried now.

Good! I hope they ****ing finally realise that it's just not on. The AFL must do a forensic investigation of EVERY Club to ensure this isn't happening, until they do that - and run them regularly, they aren't taking this seriously. I don't care if it's players from my club, your club, EVERY club - get rid of them. Let's actually give the game the integrity Vlad bangs on about but never delivers.

We will NOT be delusional, or trying to hide behind PR Companies, selected leaks and an inability to accept, that that there should be swift and immediate punishment, if this is true.

Is this upsetting, of course, embarrassing, definitely, but something that we will hide, deny and not act on, NEVER.
the Saints would not comment on Tuesday night on the shock development
