Neither of those clubs have any cap space. In fact St. Kilda couldn’t even give a ruckman a modest pay rise. Geelong had problems negotiating with Bartell. Akermanis will have limited choices unless he is prepared to take a pay cut. Sydney are the one club who can definitely accommodate him and subject to Crouch’s approval would make a huge effort at getting him. Collingwood would be another. There would be others. Who will pay the asking price is a big issue also. I’d love to get him to Collingwood but not for a first round pick unless it was late and we were a midfielder away from a flag, which I doubt. He is worth a good pick but Collingwood have needs other than a 30 year old midfielder.

Brisbane should trade him. He clearly doesnt want to be there. His attitude is poor. Trade him, its the only answer for all parties.

What's wrong with his attitude? Currently on field he's one of the few with any attitude at all. Off-field is a different story but what has changed? He's always come from unusual angles and been a big-mouth.

I understand your sentiment but I think its a little narrow. Not that I think Aker is the type of player the Saints need or that any side for that matter should be willing to offer much for him (if he leaves) but a short term solution to the Saints ruck or big defender shortage could well have been the difference last year & possibly this year.
Would I have him at Essendon, absolutely, but I would certainly not be happy giving up any prime draft picks for him or trade any of our younger players. Like what we did with Campo, took a gamble with an ageing star (hasn't worked out as we'd hoped) but we didn't mortgage the future to get him.

There's certainly an argument for and against and history is full of examples of successful moves by players late in their careers.

My point was not to debate the policy but to highlight our clubs publicly stated policy. I was amazed with all the all the talk of Everitt in the press when the Saints have said this time and time again. I'm sure every hack journo will bring us up when discussing Aker, but there's zero chance of him going to St Kilda.

But what do the Saints need more? I would say a ruckman would add more than a midfielder to St. Kilda.

I reckon Aker on pure football ability would be an asset to any team. But with what he'd cost, I think if we were going to trade to top up then we have more pressing concerns.

I can't imagine him playing in Melbourne either to be honest. I doubt whether Moorabbin in particular would be to Akers liking.

Personally I think he would be a perfect fit for Sydney, not just on field but also the promotion he would bring to the club. I also think Paul Roos would be the ideal coach to handle him.

As a bonus he will most likely bring them another premiership.
If u have a champ like AKER in ur team u let him do what he does best....WIN Matches. You dont coach a player like AKER he inspires himself and his team.

Just saw Voss on TV. He made the announcement of Acker being dropped. Whilst form was very briefly mentioned it was very clear his attitude and inability to follow team expectations was the main reason he was dropped. The match committee weren't the only ones to make the decision.....the leadership group were involved too!!!!
