On the topic of uncles and Nintendo, what's happening with that coterie meeting scheduled for Thursday

Us Player Sponsors have a call with Leigh Adams tomorrow.

The real story is GWS withdrawing (which he clearly didn't know) rather than Clarko saying second hand he's "interested" in the Essington job.

Yeah, Robbo immediatley goes into mouthpiece for Essendon cotorie/board types so easily.
I think you're onto something here. Robbo was well prepared to broadcast a positive North Melbourne perspective while he was being dripfed information from us. But it's clear we've given him nothing for a few days so he's just running point for whoever is feeding him.

I would also just like to remind everyone that AS IT STANDS - we are now the only club left without a coach in the race for Clarko.
Really makes no difference if he’s keen on them

Yep. It would appear that Robbo, just like every other media nuff, has NFI.

Clarko’s camp and North have had their lips firmly zipped for over a month. This is all coming from *.
I honestly think there’s been no leaks because Clarko’s given the club no firm indication as yet that he actually wants to coach us.

To say Robbo has no idea is being naive given his connections at Essendon.

Essendon still have a coach and we don’t.

He wouldn’t turn his back on talking for us for months and trying to get his coaching staff together just because he is friends with * CEO or president or whatever in 1 day.

Patch hates you now, Ligma. 🤣

Yep. As soon as * came into the frame he lost all collective balance and went into bat for his club.
It’s that obvious and I reckon he’s absolutely filthy at his mate for doing him dirty like this. But why blame Gerard? He had no clue either until the phone call came through from Jimmy.

So Bartel has called Gerard and said Clarko is a no go. Why?

Does it mean Clarko has made a decision?
Feeling this was always the plan all along.
As is stands WE are the only vacancy available. We are. Rutten is coach for another 5 days.

Ease up and as have been said a dozen times, wait a few more days.

It's the way to look at it. It's reported Clarkson has told them no. It means Clarkson may engage in quick process with Essendon but if it was anywhere along as some people are saying, that there was already talks taking place, then he hasn't yet said no to us.

Robbo loves nothing more than internal Essendon politics stories. And that last one has all the feels of him being told something by an Essendon board player.

All it takes is the parma and pot special.

I'm getting the Dusty feels...

Same thing happened. We professionally sat quietly in the background waiting for a response while Richmond scrambled at the last minute to get the deal over the line.
I think how we have performed from a media perspective in this pursuit of Clarkson, is apples and oranges compared to Dusty. We were leaking like a sieve through that period. We aren't giving the media anything this time. Just because we are quiet on the media front doesn't mean we aren't making moves.

It was realistic and probable until about 5:30 Sunday evening.

As soon as a big club entered the market it was over.

It’s not Sonja’s or the clubs fault. We are what we are. The smallest club in Melbourne. That 65% of the afl world want to cease to exist. I don’t see why that’s the case but unfortunately it is.

They say insanity is doing the same thing again and again expecting a different result. Maybe that’s why we have been such good innovators over a long period of time. Necessity.

But if you haven’t learned your lesson from Brian cook, dusty, Kelly (twice), gaff and now clarko, you’re not living in reality. Anytime a big club wants something north want, they will get it.

The sad part is that given all decades of cheating, inability to even win one final, players walking out, sacking coaches just appointed etc, clarko will pick * and would have had more success at North imo.

But us believing that doesn’t make it happen unfortunately.
he had offers at carlton and collingwood and didn't take those...

he took hawthorn to being a medium sized club to one of the biggest, they were top 3 or 4 for a few years, i think they're about 5th now that carlton supporters are back on the bandwagon.

he has all the money he needs, he's almost the GOAT coach. i don't see why he'd want to make an existing large club larger. it's been great watching essendon fail time and time again, but like collingwood etc. they'll be back at the top again at some point. they survived the largest doping scandal ever, they're too large to fail. But bringing north to the top for a consistent period and ensuring their long term survival, that transcends being the GOAT coach.
