Is the deadline actually today or was that just more goal post moving inner scrotum sauce? lol
There never was a deadline set by North. The so-called deadline being mentioned is a made up constraint imposed by impatient media types who want a story - they've exploited just about every angle they can, but they just can't get the money shot and it's killing them.

They're chasing their own agenda. They've no interest in the outcome once it has been announced, other than to hope like buggery which ever club lands the catch, it turns to mud and then they get another story. In the interim, they'll post a few puff pieces to bide their time.

Regardless of what the media is saying (making it up most of the time) and what the various posters are reporting as to when we might expect a decision. Bear in mind if we don't get an answer today / this week it doesn't necessarily mean he's said no to us or even said yes to * (remember they still have a coach). All it means it we don't have an answer yet… nothing more, nothing less.

FWIW, based on nothing but hope & optimism, I think we'll get an answer soon enough (later this week) but we won't announce it until early next week. I just feel like the club needs some clear air around an announcement. If we were to make an announcement this week it would be caught up in the * drama, I think this will die down a bit by the weekend and an announcement early next week would mean it's about us. 🤞

Luke Hodge on SEN now telling North fans don’t stress

Robbo and Browne and Jay Clarke going with the soft deadline calls. Club has had to come out and say it’s bullshit.
Remember these parasites boys and girls and never ever forget the contempt they hold our club to.
Scumbags

Watch the hacks in the media push the Essendon agenda harder than ever when we don't make a official announcement today about Clarksonss.
Not going to lie, my admiration for Clarkson will immeasurably increase if we find out he's been intentionally dragging it out just to see them implode and have the satisfaction of helping stick another knife in an old enemy.

I’d be more nervous if it was literally any other Melbourne-based club that we were up against.

If this was Collingwood, Richmond, or Carton, then sure, maybe we’d have been bullied out of the picture. But Essendon are a laughing stock and the only lure they could offer to Clarkson would be money.

You can just imagine some gang of Essendon coterie shonks rocking up to Clarko and going "We can get you in on the ground floor at a big new development in Derrimut!"

That might impress the likes of Dylan Shiel, but Clarko is a more sophisticated beast.

Love that McKernan is still so invested in North
I just still find it extraordinary that Essendon are even a consideration at this point as they have an existing coach. The media commentary around this is pretty disrespectful. And the club itself too. How can you conduct a process like that? I just find it so strange.

No I haven’t changed - all I’ve said is it COULD be as late as Monday. Friday is still favorite.
I still reckon they should put it on the banner and have Clarko run out with the boys.
Announce it that way.
It would be epic.

While I agree with what you're saying, I disagree with the bolded part. They're not impatient, they're disempowered. In an industry (I refuse to use the word "profession") where information is power, they currently have NOTHING and it's killing them.

Weirdly, the things he says Essendon would need to guarantee Clarson are the things they seem unlikely to be able to deliver - internal unity, no interference from directors or coteries.
Yes, so less control.

Even weirder was the Brereton quote re resources. So, even if they sack Rutten and whoever else contracted next year, Clarko ends up with a combination of less resources, or ones that he doesn't want and the club ends up paying up to 400% tax.

For all the talk about Essendon being a powerful club, Clarko would have a clean slate at North, draft picks and the one thing that has set this club back in luring FAs, would no longer be a factor.

There may well be a soft deadline, and Team Clarko may well respect that and communicate their intentions to us.

The idea that we'd immediatley communicate that outcome to the media/wider world is a very different beast though.

Speaking of free agents, any in south Australia worth talking to?
