So that’s two posters who said we should have champagne on ice who’ve now said it’s North or more time out. That’s disconcerting.

I guess you could look at a week like this and wonder why you’d put yourself (your husband, your dad) up for a senior coaching job, even if before you were keen.

Still crossing my fingers and trying to focus on Sonja’s cheery confidence.

Starting to think the contract situation with Hawthorn has been the issue all along.

Despite the arguments that he could've signed already and not not been in breach, by not signing he's been able to keep the dialogue going with us. Allowed him to discuss all manner of things, assistants, players etc.

Potentially he received legal advice saying that if he signed with us before the end of the season, he'd have to cease contact with us to not breach his Hawthorn contract.

Now the season's about to end, no more Hawthorn contract conditions and so he can sign and stay in contact.

There's clearly a no compete clause in place. They paid him out last year.

He probably knows by the time he announces it that job will be vacant, they can still sack Ruts tonight or tomorrow morning!
You really believe * as dysfunctional and disrespectful as they have been, would SACK a coach on the SAME DAY that they announce another coach?

and what do people expect Clarkos to say when asked about * instability? Do you expect him to say: "sh*t yeah, club's f**ked". Hell if he did give that answer you skeptics would read into it thinking that Clarkos thinks he is the man to save them.

Yep I watched both channels and was about to post the same. I get the feeling that the choice is down to us or nothing.
If we had no history here to provide context you would say the favourite position is that he doesn't coach at all - he looked quite glum about the whole thing.

However there is history and there is the small issue of $1m plus in salary to be made by Clarko by choosing either club so the odds must be that he coaches in 2022 - and then once that is agreed to the odds are probably mildly in our favour given the depth of discussions we supposedly have had and the past player angle.

Interesting day coming up - indeed a seminal moment in the club's history.

Errybody needs to relax!

You’re kind of still entitled to crack the bubbly when he officially spurns * lecherous advances.

And if he hadn’t been the Essendon stuff would’ve been dismissed outright and he wouldn’t be discussing that ‘job’ with reporters.

I don't disagree with a lot of what you're saying, but the reverse applies. He said as much as he could say that didn't give anyone anything. He sways too much either way and he's effectively given his answer. Media are the last he wants to give anything away to.

What mail though? He has clearly been deciding this week. Outside of Clarkson and his manager who would know? And if he hadn’t been the Essendon stuff would’ve been dismissed outright and he wouldn’t be discussing that ‘job’ with reporters.

Yep. There’s a lot of posters on here who probably need to start preparing themselves.

The interviews from today and the obvious fact that the ITK’s clearly have no idea shouldn’t be ignored.

Not the end of the world guys. But prepare yourself.

Even if he does choose Essendon, I won’t really care if it results in Chocco coming to the club.

In fact if I was 100% sure that Chocco wanted the job and that we would offer it to him, I would be barracking for him to choose the * job.

You guys are cracking me up. The walls are falling down and the empire is crumbling but all you can see are sunny skies and rainbows.

1) he could’ve and hasn’t dismissed the notion of making a decision re:essendon by noting that Rutten still has a year to run on his contract like he did with Hinkley

2) he dismissed the board instability there which has been a disgrace and responsible for the despicable treatment of Rutten

3) still relying on KIA34 for solace when the original story (which I believe to a degree) has already been dispelled and now Clarkson is clearly seriously entertaining the idea of signing for Essendon

4) based on the above if you’re still confident then nothing up until the point of him signing for essendon will dispel your confidence
1) He did say that Rutten still has a year on his contract, in the Adelaide video. Equally, if rules out the Essendon job that just pours fire on the speculation that he's been approached by them in the first place - while they have a contracted coach. Why would he do that?

2) He said the way Rutten has been treated is bad. Which it is.

3) Why would he not entertain it? Like, we all hate them sure, but it's one of only 18 jobs. He'd be remiss not to have a look.

4) I'm much more confident that he will sign with us than Essendon. You are routinely negative about every ****ing thing so I'm not surprised you aren't, but it would be nice to be surprised by your posts for once.

How about you reply to the first response I gave this?

If he dismisses *Essendon as an option then that confirms it’s us. He’s not confirming where he’s coaching on 7 f***ing news.

Clarkson says Rutten still has a year to go on his contract and says its quite embarrassing being the centre of attention in a situation that is difficult for Rutten and his club.

Going on this, his decision tomorrow will be whether he chooses to coach North or not. Not if he is choosing Essendon.
