I can’t even believe so many people here are taking anonymous allegations that seriously. How are the accused allowed to be named but those alleging aren’t even asked to submit a statutory declaration or put their name behind this?

It’s absolutely likely to be complete made up exaggerated rubbish, yet people are already hanging Clarko, who has been known to be a man of integrity.

What sort of investigation uses some unknown “First Nations” people to interview other “first Nations” people, not bothering to use any professional investigators or interviewing any other club staff or the accused? This is just absolute load of crap and I hope those involved are already preparing a huge defamation case against the ABC and anyone else involved in publishing unproven allegations and naming the people who also have families and whose mental case should be protected.

My personal story is only a small thing, but I took my daughter to a park in North Fitzroy and she was playing with another girl, the kid got called over by her parents and then would not play with my daughter again, when my daughter asked her to play with her the kid said “My parents said you look like an aboriginal person and I have to be more careful” and walked off.

That's a bit sh1t mate, I hope your daughter scowled at them. My best little mate had it in his mid year school report that he makes any "differences" in kids a positive and he has been acknowledged by the school for his inclusiveness. South Park had it right, kids don't see colour, they just see another person to play with.

Because the ABC report is supposedly based on conversations the journalist had with these parties, and not just the report created by/for Hawthorn, and the journalist in question has had a large number of hard hitting articles on historical AFL scandals that never (or barely) saw the light of day at the time.

Guys we are not paying clarko $5m if these allegations turn out to be true. Get a grip. No contract will bind us to that.

I think the $5mil payout claim came after one poster suggested we should take our players feelings into account and possibly have Clarko terminated regardless of innocence.

I responded that we wouldn't sack him if he was innocent otherwise we would have to pay out his full contract.

Correct. Jackson publishes the article and attributes the stories to actual ex Hawks players and it would be quite literally microseconds before some hero had a crack at them on social media for "ruining Hawthorns name"

Can you imagine a world where only claims with publicly named victims were considered? Of course without question there needs to the appropriate checks and balances, and investigative processes.

However victims of abuse, racism, crimes, bullying, harassment should not need to be named publicly to be heard.

The ramifications can be significant (as demonstrated today in some of the commentary), with the threat of repercussion very real.

Of course claims need to be (privately) verified- Victims not named in this report does not diminish the seriousness of the allegations.

I cant believe how many people are will to accept untried and untested allegations as fact. I find it utterly incredulous that a report can be released making serious allegations without interviewing all parties.
Most I what I read in the ABC report, sounds like Hawthorn doing its best to help distracted and undisciplined Indigenous boys live up to their potential and become professional athletes. Becoming an AFL footballer is no easy task and many people from multiple backgrounds fail.

Nah she was cool. I was there and overheard and told my daughter to do all the fun stuff she can do on the monkey bars and that it was a shame that she couldn’t teach the other kid unless her parents let her.

Solid plan.

I wouldn’t trust the AFL as a rule, but you can trust them to act out of self interest in any given situation. This sort of situation is the exact opposite of what they would want. If the AFL knew of these allegations about Clarkson before we signed him it is extremely likely that they would have informed the club on the quiet. Not because they have any great affection for North, but because they don’t want the AFL to be front and centre of such a story/scandal.
