I wasn't personally doing it either, doesn't change s**t. People need to get over the idea that your country doing s**t stuff is somehow a personal attack on you if it is acknowledged... and if it's such a nothing impact why mention that you were impacted by the same?

Purely mentioned it with reference to the "we". Sure i can see your point about the greater society taking responsibility for societies ills but i get the feeling the layman has had a gutfull. Prosecute the offenders where the law has been broken and move on.

I do not understand why journalist fail to point out that Peter Jess is Egan's business partner, and has stake in potential liability, and honestly I think has potential cause to be interviewed himself.

Remember that it was the lawyer Peter Jess's used for clients of his own that suddenly was the representation for most of the report contributors. I do wonder when that contact started for such a big group to be on the books so quickly.

i Could talk about south africa with a comparable timeline to us if i wished and hows thet country traveling as well?. Makes no difference. BTW I like your comparison that "WE" were stealing their children as well. Especially given i was adopted through a state sponsored program removing children from underprivileged single mothers.

And good on her, and don't take this the wrong way but it means absolutely nothing to me, she wanst there and had no bearing on it, IMO the church is the one of the instututions that has meddled with goverenmet policy for years and answers to no one, they were balls deep in the shipping of english orphans to AU, the removal of forced adoption re single mothers and surprise surprise their missianaries carried out the stolen generations, they are still in the picture with jim wallace and the ACL meddling with single sex marriage and so on, maybe they should just mind their own buisness and concentrate on the crapshow that theor religeos society has become. maybe if society focused their rage towards these groups rather than good meaning footy coaches like clarko we would all be better off.

oh and fwiw i see myself as extremely fortunate so i dont grind any axe and to put it bluntly i couldn't have handpicked 2 better people to have bought me up than the parents that i was fortunate enough to have had adopt me.

I have an older sister and we only met in our late 40s cos of that shit. At least she met her birth parents and younger brothers before dad died and like you she was raised by good people had a great upbringing. And yeah, the ****en church was responsible.

Kids in the stolen generations never had it anywhere near that good tho.

good on you for meeting up with your sister, i never really felt the need to persue any of my bialogical roots but just a few years ago ( just before covid lockdowns actually) i got a message from the human services and turned out i had an elder brother, we have since become pretty close, most of what i know of my biological mother is from what he had garnered. we have different bio fathers. actually going to his wedding in a few weeks so thats pretty cool,

but yes i agree it wasnt beer and skittles with many of the indigenous folk and i can tell you from a friends father that the ex UK orphans experience was pretty horrible as well.

You're talking about comparisons with Britain a thousand years ago, meanwhile less than a generation ago we were broadscale stealing children and had barely allowed first nations people the privilege of voting. They went on to create an empire that caused massive ******* harm all over the globe... perhaps an argument for the impacts of trauma rather than an endorsement of pulling your socks up theory.

I think this is the issue, they denied the allegations and it seems some of the submissions they have received are in support of the staff accused.

His post was out there, but I think we should put a hold on the pitchforks and linking Clarkson with the stolen generation, it is kind of getting out of hand.

Hold up, I’m not saying he did it, I’m just responding to what is accused of. FWIW I hope Clarkson didn’t have anything to do with it.

My point was that history matters. When a racist institution like Hawthorn does terrible things to indigenous families, its racism didn’t come out of nowhere. It has context. If you say anti-Semitic things in Germany people react more strongly because of their history. Same applies here.

Everything Jess says is a distraction. At any point, any of those allegations can be brought forward to this investigation or a courtroom by the alleged victims completely separately from the report. They are under no NDA not to be able to tell their story.

Jess is working to protect Egan (and the company they share), and does not care at all about anyone else involved IMO.

Any organisation would be absolutely bonkers to hire Jess / Egan after what's happened.

Plenty of value in conducting these sort of reviews but do it with a group who conduct themselves in a professional manner.

It would not surprise if the two of the outcomes recommended by the investigation panel are:

1. Every club to conduct their own indigenous / first nations cultural sensitivity review
2. No club to ever again hire the clownshow behind the Hawthorn review in such a capacity
