Egans> Hi come in guys and sit back and tell me a tale, a tale of your fateful trip.

FN's> It started on the rookie list, al didn't give a shit.
Me mate was a mighty footballing man
The Skipper wasn't so sure
Five rookies set sail that day
For a two-year tour
( all together) for a two-year tour.

The weather...

FN's> Hey Phil, sorry but what's with all the Gladstone bags under your desk?

Egans> oh , well, just some arrgh ooooh, documents for the upcoming case, I am very thorough.

This whole flammin, fallacious fiasco just got a whole lot more feckless

This is true, one would assume there might be more substance to the Egan allegations. But on the other hand, plenty of people have been charged by the police and found not guilty in court, whereas Clarko has been found guilty and wanting by both the Herald Sun and the SEN drivetime shift.
"Now, here are some results from our phone-in poll: 95% of the people believe [insert North person here] is guilty. Of course, this is just a AFL social media poll which is not legally binding, unless Proposition 304 passes. And we all pray it will."

Every single person at Hawthorn Football Club party to commissioning this report should resign and apologise

The good names of three men have been irreversibly damaged by a deeply flawed and unfair process and the hacks leading the witch hunt have suddenly been stunned into silence.

Well, well, well, haven’t the race-baiting sports media been stunned into silence?
The same hacks eager to disregard any notion of due process and destroy the livelihood and reputations of three men, Alistair Clarkson, Chris Fagan and Jason Burt, based on a report penned by an activist and leaked to the media, are suddenly quiet.
The author of that report, Phil Egan, who failed to interview the three accused, or indeed anybody who was non-Indigenous, nevertheless concluded that there had been race-based “bullying and intimidation’’ that amounted to “human rights abuses”.
Incredibly, his Cultural Safety Review was accepted as gospel.
Hawks report author Phil Egan.

It mattered not to the football media that the accused were being damned based on untested allegations of anonymous accusers whose identities remained protected while the accused were named, shamed and forced to take leave from their respective roles.
When I wrote about this saga back in September the witch-hunt was at fever pitch, with the majority of football pundits believing that Clarkson was a goner and possibly Fagan, too. Such was the blood lust among the media that Clarkson was criticised for strongly refuting the allegations and slamming the process.
Veteran reporter Caroline Wilson called Clarkson “combative” and his statement proclaiming his innocence “ill-advised”. One wonders whether silence would’ve been interpreted as an admission of guilt.
If they float then they’re a witch, if they sink and drown then they’re innocent. Seems fair.
This week Egan was arrested as part of a fraud investigation. He was released and, police say, is expected to be charged on summons for allegedly stealing from a body meant to help Indigenous communities.
Egan denies any wrongdoing and is innocent unless proven guilty. That’s how it’s supposed to be. But when it came to the trio accused of racist bullying there was no such restraint. Though they did not face any criminal charges, there was an eagerness to believe the worst of the accusations. The entire process was deeply flawed and unfair.
Every single person at Hawthorn Football Club party to commissioning this report should resign and apologise. They have recklessly inflicted enormous damage on the club, as well as the competition, not to mention irreversibly damaging the good names of three men.

She makes a good point. A lot of people here posting that obviously the report is full of shit because Egan has been accused of something. But Egan is yet to have been able to plead his case. So there's a bunch of hypocrites in here saying how shit the media where for jumping all over Clarkson while doing the exact same thing to Egan.

You know who you are!

Nah she sold out and has no credibility. This falls perfectly in line with her employers narrative.

As long as we don't use this article as proof that Clarko and co. did not behave in the manner claimed. I'm seeing a lot of people on here, and really, Rita is too, making a cognitive leap, in which they act as if Egan's arrest is an exoneration for Clarko. It isn't. Yes, he's unfairly had his name dragged through the mud without having had an official fair trial, but it's still not an exoneration. Egan could very feasibly have been given true information (emotional components which are dependent on subjective interpretation aside) and dutifully compiled it whilst at the same time been engaged in his little fraudulent activities. The charges certainly don't help his credibility as someone who supposedly has Indigenous interests at heart, but this scenario is far from out of the question. His job was to help the Indigenous community, after all. If you're in the position he was in and someone comes to you with that information, you're going to listen and record that information, aren't you. In spite of whatever dodgy activity you have going on on the side.

Fwiw I think the truth about the conduct of Clarko and co. is somewhere in the middle, that we'll never know what truly transpired, and that Clarko will coach us unimpeded for at least the next five seasons, but I'll stop short of making an emphatic judgment about his innocence or his guilt. All I really want to do is leave this entire thing in the rear view mirror, as malpractice, lack of co-operation, and the decision making of all parties involved have marred this entire saga and turned it into a muddy, hazy mess for which a resolution appears borderline impossible

One’s dealing with systemic racism, the other is dealing with individual action. It’s a hornets’ nest, as we all know.

I refuse to accept that Rita is on my side in anything. There is some sort of devious Rupert controlled manipulation of the narrative going on here. I'll be more inclined to give her some credibility when she names and criticises Kennett for something.
