Alex Condon (Future Cat B Candidate?)

Given he is aready thinking about the chance it wont happen by nominating us, there must be a real chance in his mind he wont be good enough to be drafted. Otherwise he could have considered a cat b spot after he may or may not get drafted.
Once he's in the USA the offers will come in thick and fast from competitions all over the world.
Provided he's a good basketballer.
The offers will be hard to resist.
Money talks

"Provided he's a good basketballer"? Yep, that's probably going to be a causative factor for a potential career in the sport.

He could go to Japan and make 10 x that of an AFL player.
Just saying I'm not getting my hopes up of getting him to us.

Sure, it would be great.

So the average AFL Salary would be 3rd on the list.
But the highest would be around 10th.

Dunno, in basketball they receive huge sign on fees. Instant millionaires. They also make millions doing ads and other endorsements. Nike and other sporting giants pay huge $ to these guys.
No comparison to what AFL players get.

ehh... eligible? Are there new rules... kids get drafted out of high school dont they
All drafted players must be at least 19 years old during the calendar year of the draft. To determine whether a player is eligible for a given year's draft, subtract 19 from the year of the draft. If the player was born during or before that year, he is eligible.

Ok so this is like an investment. We are not going to use it now but in the future if things go differently then it’s there maybe.
I actually remember hearing about him when he had to make a decision so he must have some football talent. Good to know we are on top of the list if it comes to it.

guess he was highly rated as a 17 year old. Apparantely dominated the ruck at the U17 champs and in WAFL

Interestingly in this match, they seem to be playing some other man mountain in ruck (#45) and Condon (#40) as mostly a key forward… at least in the small amount I watched.

Yeah, he was named up forward. Maybe they rotated them through ruck and forward. When you have a few big men, you have to work out a way

This was the team.

Western Australia

#45 = Jackson Broadbent. Was highly rated in U17 but ended up going undrafted. Now playing colts for Peel in the WAFL.

Could still make it onto an AFL list in a few years.

You are talking about the superstars of the best leagues. Your average player even in the NBA much less the other top basketball leagues is not getting any of that. Assuming he's not an NBA caliber talent, he'd have to be a superstar in one of the top International leagues. That type of player is typically someone who made it to the NBA via draft, but then couldn't cut it and went to Europe. Also no idea where you are getting your info from. NBA players don't get up front sign on fees like the NFL, because their contracts are guaranteed. You are way overestimating what your average basketball player can make by just applying what NBA superstars can command and even some stuff that doesn't apply to basketball but to other sports.

Look if the kid has an elite skillset then he's golden, but he's not making anything based just on height and a bit of athleticism. And he needs a lot more than just a bit of skill to get there. Literally every kid near his height around the world is trying to be a basketball player.

Big fella but not much of a leap on him and not overly athletic.

If you join the NBA you are guaranteed a bigger salary than an AFL player gets.
I was referring to not making the NBA. Joining other leagues around the world does get you massive sign on fees. Provided he's a very good basketballer.

My info comes from knowledge.

Basketball and soccer and a few other sports dwarf AFL.
World sports, not just local.
Players you have never heard of making multi millions yearly.

You aren't saying anything that isn't obvious. The idea that anyone is throwing millions in sign on fees, full contracts or endorsement deals to any random basketball player with a bit of height and some skills who didn't make the NBA though is BS. I would say 95% of college players who don't make the NBA and actually manage to get a contract internationally will make less than your average AFL player. That percentage is prob higher.
