I've watched Melbourne play as much as the next neutral supporter (here and there). My view of the bloke is that he's a very solid role-player who will perform whatever task he's given by the coaches with no fuss and just get the job done.

From what I've seen, he's a pretty good set shot at goal. He always has a crack, always puts in effort and pressure. For mine, he seems like a great club man - the kind of bloke which every side, every premiership side, needs.

I'm a little surprised about the lack of love from the two S.A. clubs' supporters. I'd have thought he'd fit well in the Crows' forward line, where he puts on a lot of defensive pressure. Surely he would be an upgrade over someone like Murphy?

You guys thought you would be in premiership contention this year so chased McAdam who rejected our offer so thought the pick will be around 36 so 42 isn't that far off ;)

A bloke who stays on the park is instantly worth more. So will come down to Adelaide’s 2nd (22) or Dees 2nd (24).

Adelaide doesn't have a second, and we can't give you our future 2nd because it's being used on Luko.

Happy to do 42 and some late futures.

We can try and do the McAdam deal, but I don't know how we get a late F2 from a premiership contender?

That logic doesn't work.

McAdam was traded for a F2 of a top four side.

Perhaps we trade Berry for Collingwood's F2 and give you that?

But it's not a trade for pick 26, that's too early a pick in this draft.

Yes it does, all future picks are the risk being taken on.

Alternatively we take Adelaide’s F2 or the Mcadam pick back.

Pick 42 is way unders for a contracted premiership best 22 player who would slot straight into almost all teams.

Very weird situation coming up I feel.

He is a good player but hard to see either Adelaide team getting super excited about him going there given they currently have plenty of options in his position.

Contracted, but has family reasons to want to head home. So perhaps the usual premium is not going to happen here.
Feels a bit like the Finlayson situation. Not really a big need for either club, especially at that age.

Finlayson went for a future 3rd.

I provided evidence why Port needs him. You guys have **** all defensive forwards.

Same goes for Adelaide.

If you want blokes want JHF or Rankine to reach full potential and not have to piss fart around defending then you would invest in a bloke like ANB.

Would be a shame to spend so much on star players only to hamstring there output by making them defend because you don’t want to fork up a little more for someone to cover them defensively.

Imagine those blokes going full bore on the offence 100% of game time like Dusty and Petracca have had the priveledge of doing thanks to Lambert and ANB.

“Nah let’s have Murphy and Mcentee kick 10-15 a year for us instead”.

Your "evidence" was weak.

I don't see him being a significant upgrade on SPP or DBJ (who has had a decent year) and at his age he is just not the type you want to spend draft capital on.

If he was 25 or under sure.

Last week
DBJ:13 touches only 8% in defensive half
ANB: 24 disposals with 36% in defensive half

But yeah let’s pickup a 18 year old kid at pick 25 who will just chase kicks in the VFL when we are in our window and losing Houston instead of enabling our star mid we spent the world on to realise his full potential.

Just because you got sold a lemon in McAdam does not mean you get to sell lemons back to South Australia

Besides, ANB is easily a better player than McAdam
It just shows that Adelaide has lost their right to pretend like they know true value of a player. They overrate their players and that's been proven.
