The Vent thread shall be quiet over the bye week.
Crazy season, I remember the melts after the Eagles game (and rightly so), especially after the frustration of losing to Carlton and Port by small margins with the lead late in the game.

Yet if had won just 1 more game, Freo would be 2nd on the ladder...

Lots questioning JL, but to get these results with a forward line that's been pretty out of form is a big tick. A change in ball movement obviously helps, but put a mercurial forward in the line up like a Charlie Curnow and peak Charlie Cameron and who knows where you'd be, even if everything else stayed the same.

Good accuracy helps as well.

Quietly confident of a win. Yeah I put the $20 on the demons at $1.58. I don't care. I can handle a $20 loss. LoL

I hoped for a narrow dockers won but dockers won well.

Weird that Freo had a slow start. But that's gonna be forgotten after seeing the performance after quarter time

afl.com.au got it wrong

Meanwhile, the Demons have a chance to consolidate their spot in the top four thanks to a relatively easy run of games.

They take on Fremantle in Alice Springs before the King's Birthday blockbuster against Collingwood, then face North Melbourne after a bye in round 14.

I recall on that AFL site that old mate Nath Schmooooooooooooock prognosticated that it would be a tight battle of defenses. He even quoted some "inside analysis" from a "senior club analyst" about the dour defensive work of both teams.

Ahh Nath ol fella, you were so close with that little prediction. Sooooo close.

And I do wonder who his "secret analyst" was?

Might have spotted a bag of carrots and some spuds on the shelf behind old mate "secret Source" during the interview.

Season-defining. Just felt like a day where everything goes right is the special treat we all deserve.

  • Forward pressure was 100 per cent the difference here, suddenly all those halved contests up forward are being followed up on. Switta's best game in years. Freddie, Sturt, Banners and the talls not far behind.
  • I thought Sturt showed enough to keep his spot - some really good pressure and link-up work.
  • The midfield just straight up deleted Petracca/Oliver/Viney. Let that sink in.
  • Maxy certainly looked like he could have done with a Ruck partner out there.
  • Jye finding that personally and professionally humiliating Steven May is the best way to restore form and confidence.
  • Forwards. Leading. At. The. Ball. Carrier.

If there's any potential downer it's the bye potentially screwing with any momentum we take out of that, but a damn near perfect day out overall.

I mean what makes the result special is how unexpected it was, schmook’s prediction made all the sense in the world

Tore them a new one. Bodily fluids leaking everywhere. That loss will shatter thier year. That win will define our turning point and push up our ceiling into the stratosphere.

Clark, Sharp and Young were just really good again - all three are starting to build a nice run of form over multiple weeks.
Still can't believe we picked Sharp up for nothing - and also that he wasn't getting any senior games at Gold Coast, Dew had some really bizarro hate towards certain players like Brodie and Sharp.

Sharp gained exactly 600m, and Young drove it forward for 774 m more - amazing results.

Hard to put too much stock into one game when it was such a whitewash, but our forwards were all pretty amazingly efficient (and accurate!!) for the first three quarters, hopefully they can build on that during the bye and have similar improvements during the second half of the season.

Others have noted we were clearly trying to play as a group for each other - great stuff.

Probably JOM's best game for us - and the first time this season that Chappy has really looked like returning to his stellar form.

Where would we be if we'd kept Cerra and not gotten Sir Serong??

And what a great sunny day in Alice - so fantastic to see the community there enjoy the AFL stars visit. Our off field work as a club has gotten so much better this year at these sorts of things.

Enjoy the bye everyone.

I wonder how many really threw away their memberships

There are a few things in life I'll never understand the fascination with. Smoking, coffee and betting your money on footy results.
