The last time they played against each other Glass took 1 mark and Brown 9 as well as kicking 4 goals.

Have you watched any Adelaide games? I watch West Coast games btw and Glass does get help on occasion. He is a very good fullback.

But this belief that Rutten gets help above and beyond being the only reason his stats are so good is just a fallacy. Yes he does get help, but when he has to compete one on one he is very good. At 24 years of age he is also the 'on field' general of the backlines with Bassett. They direct changes to be made on-field and also tell the other players where they want them to stand before the coaching staff in the box.

I was just making a point to another WC supporter that stated that Glass would win contested marks against Brown. Considering the last time they matched up together and Glass took 1 mark to Brown's 9 seems to contradict that theory.

I guess you can use one games stats to prove anything. Frankly using marking stats in order to rate a full back is ridiculous. The full back is there to negate the key forwards impact, not take grabs over them.

The fact is the original poster was trying to infer that glass was inferior to rutten in one on one contests, based on one good game against John Brown.

Rutten is very good one on one, better than glass, debatable. No one said rutten is a dud, he's fantastic. I just do't think he's a complete a footy player as the other 2 candidates...

Regardless, i'll be very surprised if Rutten is chosen AA ahead of Glass or Scarlett. Both have had arguably superior years than they had in 2006, you'd be struggling to say the same about rutten.

Guess we'll find out in a few weeks

Now, tell me how many of Brown's marks were from great kicks, taken out on a strong lead. No full-back can stop that.

It's very hard to determine who is a better fullback, but comparing stats like that is not the way to do it. Throwing a dog from a bridge and seeing if it survives or not would be just as effective.

What a load of crap. What Nikki did was compare the stats of 2 fbs against arguably the best forward in the land. Sounds like a fair comparison to me. I suppose the cards dont fall in your favour so keep trying to justify your argument because so far your falling a little behind.
