Scarlett owns that FB position, glass can take a pocket (if hes lucky).
Rubbish! Glass is still the standout Full back of the comp for me.

Keep in mind that the way the Eagles structure up, he is usually left one on one with the oppositions best forward with little help around him.
Teams often drop loose players into defence against the eagles and Worsfold will usually get his players to man em up creating an open forward line for the opposition. This puts more pressure on Glass than most other full backs.

Question...

Is Ebert (Port) play more as a forward pocket or Half Forward flank?

I'm not sure whether to put him in my AA team as a FP or HFF !!

Heres my team at the moment...

B: Scarlett Glass C.Brown
HB: McCloud Milburn Lockyer
C: Ablett S. Mitchell C. Cornes
HF: B. Harvey J.Brown Franklin
F: B. Johnson Pavlich Ebert
Foll: Cox Kerr Bartel

Interchange: McIntosh, Foley, Rievoldt, K.Cornes

Thoughts on that side ppl? Only real problem i see is no genuine CHB. But theres been no standouts there this year. C.Brown, Glass and Scarlett would all be capable of playing there in my opinion, but it isn't their primary position.
The better CHBs in the AFL this year have generally played there and racked up the stats as a loose man in defence, which I don't rate that highly, e.g. S. Fischer, G. Polak.

regards,
Brayza

Pretty close to the best side I've seen posted so far. Not 100% on McLeod and Milburn but not sure who else to put there. I think Adcock has had a great year but still don't think he'll make it.

And that forward line is POTENT!

Yes. Averaged 19 disposals per game, and has kicked 54 goals in a pretty average side.

Re: Rutten for AA?

Geelong and West Coast have better midfield departments than Adelaide IMO, and they apply brilliant defensive pressure, making the delivery into the forward line less effective and under much more pressure. Therefore creating an easier job for defenders.

I suppose it depends on what the argument is. As an out and out defensive stopper I would take Rutten over Scarlett or Glass. However, if you want a good stopper and someone that can provide some run, then Scarlett would be ahead with Glass a narrow second.

You could make that exact same argument for Adelaide in 2005, when Rutten got the AA spot, and for West Coast last year, when Glass did. I see no reason why Scarlett shouldn't benefit from the same criteria.

Glass has been sensational this year, but Scarlett has taken the whole Full-Back position to another dimension in 2007. He has put the rebound play from defensive 50 into his game which has resulted in 20% more effective inside 50's for Geelong. Glass has been the best stoppage player for a defender, let alone a FB all year, however now days stopping a player from getting a goal dosen't mean as much as setting up a goal from the backline, which Scarlo does pretty much everytime he gets the ball.

Well my last spot came down to Milburn, McLeod and Carrazzo. Chose Carrazzo on the basis that I haven't seen enough of McLeod play this year. Adelaide never get FTA coverage in Victoria. That and Milburn's a w***er.

B: Tarkyn Lockyer (Collingwood), Matthew Scarlett (Geelong), Darren Glass (West Coast)

Pretty good team. Only issues I'd raise would be switching Fisher and Bolton - fisher is not AA CHB imo.
Carrazzo was an interesting choice, have you considered Adcock? He's had a standout year. Other than that it looks pretty good, except I'd have Kerr on the ball and let C.Cornes roam across the wing. And I don't think Malceski has been good enough this year.

Great summary. Would swap Malceski for Mitchell, and Lade for McIntosh.

that team is so close to mine it's scary!

i don't have brad johnson, milburn or glass- i've retained judd, i've got hodge and i've got c bolton. obviously a few positional changes

B: D Milburn, M Scarlett, D Glass
HB: A McLeod, M Egan, L Hodge
C: K Cornes, J Bartel, D Kerr
HF: B Harvey, J Brown, S Johnson
F: L Franklin, M Pavlich, B Ebert
R: D Cox, C Cornes, G Ablett
I: B Johnson, H McIntosh, N Foley, S Mitchell
E: C Brown, J Corey, T Lockyer, C Ling

Heads or tails??

Flip a coin for Scarlett and Glass for the AA full back seems to be the general consensus on BF.

Having seen most of Scarletts games I would say he is playing his best footy this year by far.

Glass is playing superbly as well but is a shade behind the mop topped cat, although would not be too dissappointed if he beat him for the spot.

Thoughts??

Re: Heads or tails??

id go with scarlett ebcause the cats are on top of the ladder and there have been a few games where glass has been beaten, even though he was amazing against the g-train the other night. scarlett for me mate.
