Hard to believe Tony couldn't find the time in his busy schedule to have heart-to-heart conversations about the creative directions of the likes of Marko Stunt and Joey Janella.

What do Gresham, Stunt & Janella all have in common?

All three are heavily involved in their own independent promotions. It’s not just in ring talent that TK is ignoring, but some of the creative wrestling minds of this generation.

It doesn’t matter if TK is busy, there should be SOMEONE for the lower card wrestlers to communicate through rather than being ghosted.

As AEW has grown significantly over the past 3 years, the backstage officials need to increase to keep up with the workload.

Love how everyone is an expert now about all the inner workings of the company haha.

In fairness though you think he would have had time for his ROH champion.

The guy is talented and will be a loss but at the end of the day Claudio is more marketable as champion

You can put the ROH World title on Claudio without pissing off Gresham.

The two actions aren’t interlinked. All it takes is giving talent someone to speak with (if you read his comments recently he feels that no one has really spoken with him at all)

I don’t get the appeal of Gresham anyway. The mask has never been explained, and while I typically love that wrestlers can come in all shapes and sizes, he looks like an actual midget that I could step on.

Gresham departing AEW/ROH isn't that big of a loss.

A 5'3" loss? Sure, but not a big loss to the company.

The size difference between Gresham and Claudio was pretty noticeable. As good as Gresham is, you would rather him be facing off guys 6’ or less at this stage, rather than Claudio who is 6’5

How do you know this is the case? Making assumptions

Because I’ve read/listened to comments from Stunt, Janella & Gresham that have all said that AEW’s talent relations team were poor communicators.

I'd either:

Run ROH as its own promotion, minimal or no crossover of talent, using it as a developmental or for talent who want a lighter schedule

or

Build to a merger PPV with unifying all the titles under the AEW banner and keeping the video library.

It's unfortunately WWE buying WCW all over again.

Buy promotion, give handful of existing talent a go on current show and have storylines that fizzle out till things go back to normal.

To be fair, Tony just made the purchase as a throwaway annoucement on Dynamite, so I suppose he hasn't promised to make anything long term out of it anyway.

Just have a title unification PPV IMO.

With the tape library plus 3ish years of AEW there's enough to have their own service. If they can get a working deal with NJPW too for broadcasting shows on their service even better, considering AEW is on NJPW World IIRC.

Might be wrong but AEW early days pushed itself as a proper wrestling alternative to WWE and really there isn't a massive point of difference other than the booking. Hopefully they get back to that.

Think he is really starting to find out hard it is. You can't always have time for everyone with such a big roster. That's life. Doesn't matter what company it is

Konosuke Takeshita vs JD Drake on Elevation.

I also have to admit every time I watch these shows, QT Marshall seems to always get a big reaction from the crowd (boos, QT sucks chants etc). He wasn't even wrestling today, he was just standing at ringside for the Dark Order vs Factory match and the crowd was still was on his case.

As someone who is a bit bummed by a lot of wrestling, I loved this idea - so please excuse me while I cross promote it across a couple of threads

I read yesterday that Takeshita’s excursion is done and he’s heading back to DDT. That’s a bummer, he looks a million bucks and can work like a mother****er. He almost single handedly makes me want to watch DDT. He makes me wish NJPW would resume bringing in 1, 2, maybe 3 outsiders for the G1. (I guess they’ve fone that with Archer this year, kind of.)

I’m glad AEW treated him so well, including a match against the champ where he more than held his own. Unlike TNA and Okada 15 years ago, which it took 12 years and a global pandemic for NJPW to finally move past, AEW have given Japanese companies every reason to trust them with their talent going forward.

Rush v Moxley is just a prime example of why a lot of AEW is a cluster ****. Good match but how it come about is just random could think of 20 other guys that would deserve a title shot instead.... and now they are moving on to Jericho v Mox.... Really surely they could find someone else for Mox and Jericho would be better suited off working with an up and comer...

No doubt the match will be okay but there has been a bit of Jericho's "big" stuff over the last 2 years has fallen flat in a big way.
