Well that was fun to go down and watch. It was exciting to watch the young and new players run around.

Players who stood out for me were

Nelson
Main
Bennell
Wellingham (close to BOG)
Gaff

Karpany did some nice things and seemed to get a few touches. Lamb was immense when he came on, felt like he was everywhere. His vision was impressive as well.

I know it's an early call but I don't think Tunbridge will make it.

Main played on a back flank it seems? Was he good defensively or with ball in hand?

My favourite part of the afl review

INJURIES
West Coast: Nil
Sinclair did an ankle and was iced up - not sure on seriousness.

Loved RoPo's last term. 3 times he was involved across half back and covered the ground exceptionally well to be involved up forward in the next play. Was BoG in that last term for mine.

Had the binos on the clearances and Waterman was impressive in that last term as well.

Yeah mainly across the back flank, had a few nice spoils, one was so big he couldn't slow down and took out Lucas as well. He also know how to get his hands free in traffic which is important. May still make it.

Just got back from the game.

My 2c.

Wellingham has great skills, but still a bit lazy. Did some good things though
Lycett is a beast, and Sinclair is not far behind
Bennell was great off half back
Cripps is one to watch this year. Really took charge in the forward line, directing others
Lamb was Ok. Kicked a goal in the last which was pretty good.
Gaff was did some good things
Masten has bulked up big time!
Shepard was a bit fumbly at times, but one of his second efforts was outstanding.

I don't know the new guys well enough to comment, but some of them looked pretty good

We sat around all of the players that weren't playing. Selwood, Ellis and a new guy (did know his name) sat in front of us.

NN was off to my left a few seats away. That guy is amazing. Had heaps of kids (and adults for that matter) ask for autographs and selfies and never said no once! Even though you could tell he just wanted to watch the game. At the breaks he would go into the room where we were to get away a bit. He looks huge!

Also saw mcginnity, JK, Shuey, JD (not though I directly saw him on them, but there was a pair of crutches near him) and a few others.

Chatted to Selwood and Ellis for a bit and they said that masto and Cripps have really stepped up this year. X will be good to go round 1, but Selwood was non committal. Reckon it will be touch and go.

They were certainly better by hand and looks like our structures are a bit better, with good run on and quick by hand. Our kicking, especially out of the backline was good, until we we went into the forward 50, with the trademark bombs with no crumbers.

Also noticed a few times when the all stars were coming out of the backline we were very successful at forcing them wide and coralling them to the boundary.

Overall, we looked the better side of average.

The all stars were certainly quicker across the ground and were adept at the side step and spin, but this seemed to be their only trick! Some talented players for sure, but you could tell they went playing as a unit (and quite rightly so with the limited time they have spent together)

That's about all I can think of for now...

Yeah. Tried to take mark of the century in the final term.
Harass got the ball just in front of where I was sitting in the last quarter. Had no options and looked like he was shitting bricks.

Thoughts on Nelson ER?

Main was apparently promising last pre-season as well. Hopefully take it into the WAFL.

Physically he's unrecognizable from early last year. Looks a lot stronger through the core and covered the ground brilliantly at times tonight. (powerful running).

Love at first sight.

A lot to like about his game, given kicking in duties he did the task well. Attacking mindset coupled with composure and a strong physical game, defensive positioning was strong as was he in critical contests.

Given we off loaded a lot of smaller defenders and just lost Waters Nelson has got a rare opportunity to make himself invaluable to the squad over the next 24 months.

It was a scrappy game the all stars zipped wide with amazing pace but i think it was the strength over the ball and hard hits in the contest with our bigger bodied boys making the difference game could have gone iether way , lots of miskicks into forward line from our boys and they sprayed a lot of their shots on goal ... My 8 year old daughter was excited Lambsy has hair like lambs wool and he did a bit in the last qtr .

At least it wasn't as bad as J.Hill's shot right in front and missed. I think it was in the first. Never really saw him after that...

My best in no particular order.
Shaz
Bennell
Cripps
Yeo
Shep
Yeo makes us look so much better in the middle. Thought that he didn't really want to lay many tackles due to his hand.

Was impressed with Shep. Will be good for us this year I reckon

Love at first sight.

Glad I wasn't the only one. Nelson was the biggest positive I took out of tonight. Really liked his composure and decision making
