I thought 'Project Players' - geez I hate the term - were supposed to be non natural players with physical/other abilities that can be adapted to AFL. Certainly not TAC Cup midfielders with an elite score in the kicking drill at draft camp taken at pick 20.

I do think Pitt will be a good player once he matures. It was his football abilities that meant he came into the system early, not some x factor.

Well most players come through the same pathway. Pitt was actually a suprise packet in his draft year and it was his X-Factor on the big stage of the under 18 champs that raised his profile.

Well most players come through the same pathway...

Hence I hate the term 'Project Player', everyone could be classified as a project then. Long story short, we agree on Pitt - shows potential but still has to prove it. Hurry up NAB Cup.

Crozier is a project player in exactly the same mold isn't he?He seems a natural footballer at junior levels, but because of his size is an unknown beyond that.

Agreed that you could parallel Crozier to Pitt in terms of potential but not yet having an AFL physique, hence they aren't just thrown to the wolves.

My main point though is that everyone requires some sort of development once they hit an AFL list. Some need physical, some need attitude, some to just understand the game & some all of those (+ any I have missed...). So to me labelling certain individuals 'Project Players' I just don't see the need for.

If this rumour about Morabito is true then I hope that the officials get it right and don't play him until it is absolutely okay, even if we have to wait till next year. And also if true it gives us an opportunity to place him on the LTI list and upgrade one of our rookies.

No, I didn't. Mundy was excellent in 2006 and very good in 2005. Had a tonne of poise, as well as his kicking skills.

I just don't see that in Pitt. I really don't care how good Pitt looks at training. In games he was lost. Even in space with no pressure, he messed up kicks. His disposal efficiency was poor.

I think he had one really good kick all year.

That pretty much sums it up for me .

****s's sake. That Morabito rumor....it's kind of what you're expecting the situation to be (all things considered), but geez it's a hard pill to swallow.

Not all players are plug in and play, you have to give players at least 2-3 years in the system, writing Pitt off after one year is short sighted.
The same could be said of all mature age players, at 18 or 19 they were not given a chance, not good enough.
A full pre-season is required by every player just to compete in the AFL.
If the player has the right attitude, desire to succeed, give them a fair go.
Last year our off-field structures, development stalled, lets see how they
go under an experienced AFL coach, system.
Morabito will struggle this year, no pre-season conditioning, will the BF posters wait to judge him on next years performance?

Yep, a rookie upgrade like spurr will probably be more effective over the year than nursing morabito.

Just heard that evergreen director George A. Romero is considering 'Mora' for the lead role in his next movie, working title is apparently "Preseason of the Living Dead".

A "project player" is anyone who is not "ready-made". ;)

Pitt looked alright to me. He's only played 8 games though, it's too early to call either way.

Too much expectationson a young player like Pitt. Not all first round draft picks dominate their first year,

David Swallow Harley Bennell Sam Day Andrew Gaff Jared Polec Reece Conca Josh Caddy Dyson Heppell Dion Prestia Daniel Gorringe Thomas Lynch Lucas Cook Seb Tape Brodie Smith Billie Smedts Ben Jacobs Shaun Atley Matthew Watson Isaac Smith Jayden Pitt Mitch Wallis Cameron Guthrie Jamie Cripps Patrick Karnezis

The top 24 players in a strong draft. Half these guys played less games than Pitt and only a handful were regular players. Some may never be regualr players and only a few might dominate.

A players such as Atley didn't have a huge season like Pitt however I think he'll be a very good player long term for the Roos and I bet they arn't bitching about picking him. We need to chill on Pitt and let him develop.

Its lies ,lies and more damn lies, cant understand what makes these w***ers tick:mad:
Mora was training this morning, running laps, then skill work and kicking beautifully.Knee was unstrapped and he was moving without any sign of discomfort:thumbsu:

Quite a different decision involved in recruiting a plug and play type of player such as Barlow or Haselby than players like Pitt and Crozier. If Pitt and Crozier were closer to reaching their potential you would assume they would be selected a lot higher than they are.

Cheers for that.

Must admit I'd be pretty disappointed if our fitness staff offered information about key players as freely as the poster was implying.

Mora must be lying to the fitness staff, who in-turn passed on Mora's deceit, unwittingly to gldy, after he so coyly "chimed in" enquiring after Mora's welfare...
Jeez... I hope gldy takes it OK, not everyday you are so carelessly misled by your favourite player...:D

I think I just found my next fancy dress costume... FFC Fitness Staff Member in civillian attire...

Seriously though, cracking the first Sierra Nev. Off to the 20/20 this arvo. You have put my mind at ease Salim. Very grateful to the devoted few who actually peddle first hand info.

Top work again Salim. Its a few like yourself who get down and see it as it is that keep me checking this site for information. I dont care why people start such rumours but you take it as a given that no club official would ever give away such information to a random supporter.

Chris Bond on PR on Tues night squashed the mid season rumour information and said that Mora is running well and completing all his separate training sessions. Due to join the main group in coming weeks. According to Bond, Mora will play later in the NAB cup and if that is the case then he will pres for selection in the early rounds. The unfortunate thing that Bond did say is that Mundy had major ankle surgery and is actually behind Mora in his rehab.

Bond did acknowledge that Mora had some hiccups which could well be that he was at one point feeling pain in the knee when running. Hackdorn on PR on Sunday morning said that he chased up information regarding Mora's Melbourne visit to see a Specialist at which time he was given the all clear.

People need to calm down a little. It certainly appears that Mora, Mundy & Mitchie will have slight delays to the season and the club has taken a conservative approach with all three and frankly I'm glad as the footy season is a long one.

Thanks Salim, will keep to my original expectations of late NAB cup return two -three weeks to get his touch in the WAFL then available for selection.

I was a little sceptical in the fact that club staff were sharing this info so freely.
