At training today it was good to see the majority of the players out there are participating in the majority of the drills. The main absentees were Sandi, Grover, Mundy, Spurr, Michie, Wilson-King and Forster. I may have forgotten someone.

Training considering how poor the conditions were especially at the start was of a decent level. While doing forward and defensive zoning/ball work McFarlap looked solid as always in the backline. Ballas did alot of midfield work and was a key mover of the ball into the forward 50 with very clean foot skills. I liked the look of DeBour's presence up forward but I guess none of that is new to anyone. Suban moved the ball out of defence a lot with some great kicking and some off the side of the boot.

Out of the new guys Menengola was creative and as usual Neale and Sheridan were pushing themselves hard to get into the play.

Walters did some running and boxing work.

Fyfe, Ibbo, Lower and Mayne (to a lesser degree) ran for a period of time away from the main group when they worked on the main drills of the morning. All looking very fit.

Overall a good session with a lot of clear direction from Lyon on how to position yourself going in and out of the defence/forward line.

Towards the end a scaled down number of players ran group laps of the oval with only a few looking fatigued; Dawson, Roberts and Anthony.

Sandi was there, running laps.

Number 45 is apparently a guy from South Freo as part of the AIS/AFL academy. Some one asked a few pages ago how Johnson was looking. In short very good, legs are very trim and training well. They started early at 8:20 am or so and I missed a chunk of the session.

Is he tall? Looking at the ais/afl intake the only south freo player is Mason Shaw.

Have to agree that Neale was looking really good.

Has anyone watched the video just posted of training today? It would have to be the gayest posey video of nothing the club has ever released...

lets upload some videos of the players looking up at us in slow motion and set some music to it.

I've summarised it for everyone -

Theres a new guy that has worked at a CH7 and is fairly experienced that is in the media team now running the Docker TV stuff.

The lovely Holly that ran all the DTV stuff for the last few years has left :(

Biggest loss of staff from FFC, just in front of Chris Scott...

Hey mate. Yeah lesson 1 for n00b posters :)

I'll echo the sentiment that Neale looks great at training. He just has that happy knack of being where the ball is and getting on the end of it.
Pitty is class personified. Time, space, poise, skill.
Crozier was busy too. Looks like a boy out there but he's neat and tidy with the ball, seems to read the play and moves well. Sutcliffe is a handy size and a nice mover too.
Impressed again with Clancy today. Reads the play so well, was in everything and his kicking is excellent.
The old(er) heads, McPharlin, Broughton, Johnson, Pavlich, Duffield, Silvagni (not old but seems a veteran almost already) all look to be in super touch, particularly McPharlin who schooled Clarke in one on ones. Luke is so wily and reads it in the air so well he just uses little nudges and positioning to win in the air every time unless his man can get on a fast lead.
Crighton and Mellington both continue to train well and will threaten for a place in the first team.
Couple of great goals kicked today. One passage saw DeBoer take a strong mark on the 50 to be around 60 when he went back on the mark. Hill came barreling around the outside received the handball and kicked truly (and easily) from 55 against a very strong cross breeze. In another play Pav saw the zone had been sucked up the ground and unleashed a torp from 65 that skidded through on the bounce. Both goals received loud cheers and applause from the other players which was in keeping with the mood of the group which seems excellent.
If I had to pick 22 from those that have been training with the main group I would definitely have Neale, Pitt & Sheridan in it. Neale looks like an absolute bargain. Just a footballer who knows how to rack up touches and uses it well.
