The Melbourne "shush" curse

In Round 10 Brodie Grundy shushed at the Port Adelaide crowd, the Dees lost
In Round 15 Kozzy Pickett shushed at the Geelong crowd, the Dees lost

Titanic and Essendon

1912 year Titanic sank, Essendon won flag
1985 year Titanic's wreck was found, Essendon won the flag
2000 year Carpathia's wreck (the rescue ship) was found, Essendon won the flag

Essendon were premiers in 1911, the year that the Titanic was launched at Belfast and when older sister Olympic left on her maiden voyage. The man who found the Titanic wreck in 1985 - Dr. Robert Ballard - was born in 1942, another Essendon premiership season. Captain Stanley Lord, the captain of the Californian who came under much scrutiny for not starting his ship's wireless set when odd maritime activities were seen on the horizon that night died in Essendon's premiership season of 1962, while Fred Fleet, the lookout who sighted the iceberg died in 1965, when Essendon won the premiership.

The research you've done to come up with that probably outweighs your ability to nit pick events to suit your agenda.

I'll pay it.

7 of the same results have happened 22 years apart if Lions beat WCE in Round 16 then that makes 8.
In 2001 Brisbane Lions AFL Season before the first flag
Round 1 lost to Port
Round 3 lost to Western Bulldogs
Round 9 Lost to Adelaide

Round 2 Defeated North Melbourne by 60 Points
Round 5 Defeated Fremantle by 49 Points
Round 10 Defeated Essendon by 28 points
Round 12 Defeated Melbourne by 49 points

Round 11 Defeated WCE by 22 points.

In the 2023 AFL Season
Round 1 Lost to Port Adelaide
Round 3 Lost to Western Bulldogs
Round 11 Lost to Adelaide

Round 2 Defeated Melbourne by 11 points
Round 5 Defeated North Melbourne by 75 points
Round 7 Defeated Fremantle by 48 points
Round 9 Defeated Essendon by 42 points

Lions to play WCE in Round 16 going on form that also could be the same result too.

Also in 2003 AFL Season
The Final ladder
1. Port Adelaide
2. Collingwood
3. Brisbane Lions

Current AFL Ladder after 11 Rounds
1. Collingwood
2. Port Adelaide
3. Brisbane Lions

The same top 3 teams.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but you have the Bulldogs having beaten Brisbane in Rd 3, 2001. It was round four that occurred, Paul Hudson kicking eight.

2007 - Collingwood beat WC in a SF, WC misses finals next year
2012 - Collingwood beat WC in a SF, WC misses finals next year
2020 - Collingwood beat WC in an EF, WC misses finals next year
2022 - Collingwood beat Freo in a SF, Freo likely to miss finals

Each time Collingwood defeats a WA team in a final during the Final 8 era, they miss the finals the following year.

The two games between St Kilda and the Brisbane Bears at Moorabbin in 1991 and 1992:

Round 23 1991: St Kilda 27.12-174 d. Brisbane 7.12-54 by 120-points
Round 10 1992: St Kilda 25.18-168 d. Brisbane 9.6-60 by 108-points

In the 1992 game, the Saints score is 2 goals less and 6 points more than the 1991 match, while the Bears had a 1992 score of 2 goals more and 6 points less than in 1991.

And the way the games were played were close to an inverse of each other. In Round 23 1991 the Bears put up stern resistance to the Saints in the first half, and only three quick goals by St Kilda in time on of the second quarter put the home team 28-points in front of Brisbane at half time. Then in the second half the Saints exploded away with 17 goals to 2, demolishing the Bears by 120-points, an even 20 goals and remarkable due to the fact that Tony Lockett was sick that day and didn't play for St Kilda.

In Round 10 1992 St Kilda jumped the Brisbane Bears early and led the Queenslanders by 75-points at half time. However after the long break the Bears were much more competitive, and made the Saints work hard to achieve their 108-point victory. This time, Tony Lockett was in the St Kilda team and kicked 12 goals for the home team.

The R16 and R17 2023 Brisbane games:

Lions 134 d Tigers 53

Lions 116 d Eagles 35

Same margin of 81 points.

The defeated teams’ scores were numerical inversions.

All four scores involved the digits adding up to eight.
Again yesterday the Lions @ the Gabba defeated opponent’s score was 53.

The last three Gabba visiting teams have lost and have have been the last three clubs to win MCG premierships. They also scored 53, 35 and 53 points.

On the flip side Brisbane’s last two MCG appearances were losses and their opponents were Hawthorn and Melbourne who are the last two clubs to win non-MCG September* premierships.

*the non-MCG 2020 GF was contested in late October
