Probably similar to why Thursday night footy rates it’s ass off, it’s an island. There is literally nothing else on a Wednesday night unless you’re a 21 year old degenerate and even they probably watch it at a pub before kicking off.

Sunday clashes with local footy, family commitments, afl, socials. Wednesday is stand alone.

Agree with Jatz though, post season is not the go.

Worked fine the last time they did it. They HAVE to have less disruption to teams, the rounds during Origin are a farce. Other option is stop the competition for 3 weeks have a mid year break, play Origin over 3 weeks one after the other.
International game is for the off season.

Kangaroo tours etc.

They tried it during it covid out of necessity.

It wasn't horrible but a lot of players pulled out because of end of season surgery and the worse QLD team managed to win.

Fittler and Brandy Alexander should have been punted after that series.

Any south Australians actually going.

I am flying to Adelaide tomorrow for the game and the week apprantley there was still 10k tickets left as of last week which doesn't surprise me.

No reason they can’t do both have Origin actually be an Australian trial as it should be.

You now wanna shorten the off-season by minimum 4-5 weeks for origin plus whatever Australian duties they have?

Nah.

Not really personally I’d reduce the season by 3 games. I wouldn’t be playing internationals every year. Alternatively just play them all over 3 weeks back to back break the season. These rounds in origin are a farce teams missing half their players is not good for the game

I agree with the principle I’m just not convinced of a better solution.

There not gonna shorten the season by three rounds, they can’t extend the season by three weeks to accommodate it, post season is a terrible idea.

I’d say make it a one off game but they won’t do that either (and I’d hate it).

Well they better think of something because otherwise I won’t blame clubs pulling players for niggles.

You could do it over 2 weeks as well and have a weekend off after SOO3.

I don’t think anyone is blaming the clubs for pulling players, I (and I think Jatz) were just pointing out that Graham being pulled probably cost him a Blues jumper.

Ultimately I love SOO but I also completely understand why it died in the AFL.

Glad he’s not playing under a dreadful coach in Fittler who should have been punted after losing to the Queensland D side. Helps Souths having Graham available when he really shouldn’t have been through this period.

You’d rather not play the best available player to prove a point about your feeling on a coach…

Maybe NSW really doesn’t “get” origin 🤷🏼‍♂️

Couldn’t care less what NSW (especially as
I prefer qld winning as it’s nit Fittler winning) do so long as my side don’t cop injuries from the exhibition games.

I'm an NSW supporter because I go for the dragons and its just by extention.

But great to see NSW running out in Victoria's state colour of Navy blue. I knew we were the best state and now we know NSW wants to be us /s

Sky blue is always synonymous with NSW to me. The navy looks mint but its not a NSW Jersey to me.

Who's playing local footy on a Sunday night? Haha.

Would've thought if anything, Sunday would be quieter with most having work the next day. You're probably right though, the ratings suggest what you're saying.

I actually just thought you meant Sunday (like day).

Sunday nights are a ratings black hole for some reason, swear when i was a kid that was THE ratings night, big movies on a Sunday.

I'm going with NSW 18-14 tonight.

Seems every game NSW appear better on paper, but QLD always find a way. Because of that obviously wouldn't surprise if either team salute, but I think NSW look to have more points in them.

I'm tipping Walsh will star on Origin debut too.
Oddly for the first time in a very very long time I think the Maroons actually look a bit better on paper.

The NSW pack though. Haas is the best forward in the game imo and Paulo and Murray off the bench. Get Cleary into good spots and it’s hard to see how they don’t score.

The dark blue jumpers are not right and the light blue socks make it more stark. The designers of their uniform had a bob each way.

My biggest question mark over the Blues jersey is the Tooheys sponsorship.

Granted, I'm not a huge drinker, but I can't remember the last time I saw Tooheys in a bottle shop or a pub. Even on my road trip a couple of years ago around the country I don't remember seeing it, so it's not a northern state thing.
