It's my understanding that North want 2 first round picks and a young player out of the deal. That's not necessarily as a straight swap but in a 3 or 4 club trade in which North may let another player go. I don't think they're interested in a Goodes or Kane Johnson type as they're too expensive but a promising young'un will do as they'll still be on base payments. They believe the 2 first round picks is achievable as other clubs enter the fray looking for players(such as Goodes and Johnson). The Carey deal won't just be a trade between 2 clubs but is likely to be the most complicated so far. You'll need to think outside the square a bit to grasp the likely scenario. Even then it'll probably surprise us all!

I'll put $1 down here right now that in the washup of things the Roos will get no more than a 1st round draft pick (and maybe a dud player or another draft pick if lucky) for Carey from whichever club he ends up at
