Look guys I dont usually start new threads but everyone is ranting and raving about JR, who was very good last night, but what about the forums other wipping boy Andy Carrazzo....

He was unbelievable last night, he had 24 touches himself, blocked for Juddy all night, won clearances, used the footy well and kept Dal Santo to 5 touches until 3 quarter time.

Dal Santo put himself behind the footy in the last quarter and got a little of it when the game was over.

This bloke is a B&F winner and probably the hardest working bloke at our club. Like Hoops, Scotto and Simmo he has stuck fat during the crap times and is now the perfect foil for our Midfield.

Easily best on ground IMO :thumbsu:

I took a small swipe at him during the week in another thread, but i still rate him as a solid member of our 2010 team.

IMO was the best player on the ground. Dal Santo was the player i highlighted as a worry.

He may aswell have stayed home. Carrazzo towelled him up.

I mentioned in another thread I reckon the defensive midfield role is his position, rather than an out and out attacking role.

Should play the role he played last night every week and being such a ball magnet he can still pick up useful possessions while negating his opposition, rather than collecting big numbers all over the ground but having little influence on the game.

I don't know if he will have the concentration to play that role do that week in / week out - That is the beauty of our team at the moment - Horses for courses - You can have any of Carrazzo, Gibbs, Houlihan or Simpson play a negating or an attacking role, versatile and will leave the opposition second guessing.

Correct. :thumbsu:

Ratts had him BOG as well.

Will be interesting to see the coaches votes over the next week.

Probably won't get 3 Brownlow votes because he didn't really stand out - but he was BOG.

He exposed NDS as the soft front runner that he is.

Just heard on SEN that he got the perfect 10 from the coaches votes J :thumbsu:

Coaches gave his game 10 out of 10 and yet so many posters were calling for him to be dropped all week (one at least three times in the one thread!).

At least now I know which posters are definitely not in tune with the MC.

88% effective disposal 4 clearances and 4 inside 50's too, he didn't have to sacrifice all of his game to negate Dal -great work Carrots.

I have always thought he could be a good an inside mid (although I think he's best as a defensive forward), maybe with Brock and Hadley injured he could audition for the role?

I wanted him dropped after last week.
I reckon last night was his best game for the club.
Well done, hope he keeps it up, particularly the blocking, shepherding which was fantastic last night.

I think one issue is a lot of people look at their games in isolation which is natural given that's the available evidence...yet the MC have to sit down and formulate and implement strategies that can maximise a chance of a win. Match ups and opposition analysis become important. To a fair degree if they thought Carrazz was the best person to play the role (or needed to be challenged in such a way at this point in the season) on Dal then to a fair degree his performance last week becomes irrelevant.

I couldn't believe how many Carlton fans were calling for his head during the week.

Carrots isn't a superstar but he does his job every damn week. It angers me that Carlton fans don't see his true value but they bang on about how good Brock McLean is.

So to a fair degree, on his performance against the Pies alone, you would agree to a fair degree that he deserved to be dropped?

I think it's cute the way you stand up for TG like that...

Huh???

Attribution error :)

I'm not standing up for anybody, I'm making an observation on potential differences in decision criteria between supporters and the MC.

In fact last week I was otherwise occupied and haven't seen the whole game yet, so I have no idea about Carrazz's performance ;)

Why shouldn't the heat have been on Carrazzo after his useless game against the Pies?

Carrazzo failed to do his job last week.

For a player who is 26 and not finding his feet like Russell, Armfield, etc, that was a poor performance by a senior player and a member of the leadership group. 65% disposal efficiency is poor for a player who doesn't get his touches in heavy traffic and under pressure like inside midfielders.

Carrazzo's DE was 85% last night.

We'd still be better offer with Davey who is quick, accountable and arguably the best kick in the game.

Why shouldn't we defend Brock?

Mclean is injured.

I doubt that anyone would give up a first round pick for a run with midfielder such as Carrazzo.

At least she lets you off the leash when we have good wins...

Why shouldn't the heat have been on Carrazzo after his useless game against the Pies?

Because he is protected?

There is a difference between putting some heat on and dropping.

Carrazzo failed to do his job last week.

He had plenty of company.

I'd suggest the coaching staff put the heat on the whole team, and they responded very well.

I read 88%

Hindsight recruiting much?

Why shouldn't we defend Brock?

We should defend them all.
