There are literally hundreds of examples of teams that have missed finals that you’re more likely to follow, yet you compare yourselves to the one team which extraordinarily won the flag the following season and achieved something that has never happened before and most likely will never happen again. Forgive me for not understanding why you guys continuously refer to Richmond 2016. The two teams could not be more incomparable.

History suggests North are more likely to do a St Kilda 2018 than a Richmond 2017. I admire your optimism though.

Any deal should be more beneficial for both clubs if you can include an extra pick from AFL house into the mix.

Say hypothetically if North were willing to trade pick 10 for Gaff. Come to an agreement behind closed doors where we dont match and get pick 19 and then we could send pick 19 their way with Gaff for pick 10 and a second rounder.

So the compensation would be traded to North?

The AFL would also have to approve any trade. How would 19 for 10 + 30 be justified?

That way they upgrade a second rounder to pick 19 and we get an extra second rounder on top of pick 10. Or something like that anyway. Adding in the compo though can be beneficial for both clubs in a trade.

It wouldn't be justified it was just an example to show there is a net gain for both clubs with it included. Wouldn't be that hard fir clubs to come up with a justifiable trade though. Like simply handing over a player like Preuss cheap

Under the table shenanigans like what you guys did with Dal Santo and Delaney with the Saints. Im not saying you guys will or should do that but IF both clubs wanted to work something out together then it makes most sense for us not to match and go down that route than matching and trying to force you to cough up more than you will or can
