Not sure it makes much sense Fremantle picking up Lovett. They are an extremely young, developing list who are no where near finals. Considering they were reluctant to give 28 YO Haselby, a long time loyal servant of the club, a multi year deal I can't see them offering 27 YO Lovett a 3 year deal worth big money. Pretty bad treatment of a club champion if true. Maybe Vossy has got in Chris Scott's ear to encourage Freo to give Essendon a scare subsequently making them jump at a deal we offer them that is worth below market value haha.

Harvey ruled out going for Fevola saying 'he's not for us, we're in a building mode'. The age difference between Lovett and Fevola is less than 2 years.

Far out Lovett is one greedy bloke. Just heard that S Burgoyne has accepted a 450k/year deal from Hawthorne yet Lovett wants 500k . Burgoyne is 2x the player that Lovett will ever be and has proven that he can actually play football consistently. If we get Lovett we shouldn't offer more then 400k.

Sorry to disappoint, but there is no way Essendon will let Lovett go for a third round pick. I reckon, and dont know if this has been suggested yet or not, but Lovett and Pick 26, for pick 12 from Brisbane.

Probably not the perfect solution, but I reckon it's not unreasonable.:thumbsu:

Brisbane are putting MacDonald and Rischitelli out there for a reason, and that reason is that pick 12 is off the table.

Its simply not going to happen.

I doubt we are his priority.
Very strong links Freo & is being encouraged to hold out for the PSD by that club. Believed they are prepared to match his asking price, which we will struggle to do. In his mind does he owe the bombers anything is the question the bombers need to consider.

Lovett to Freo via the PSD is a very strong possibility.
Sorry to disappoint........ now where have I heard that before.

Essendon don't really have a choice do they?
If Brisbane offer a 3rd round pick and Freo offer nothing, Essendon either have to take the 3rd rounder, or be prepared to watch him walk to Freo in the PSD for nothing.
Correct me if im wrong though.

Fair call, however, as the draft is supposed to be pretty weak, a third rd pick may be the equivalent of letting Lovett go into the PSD.

Also I'd be pretty happy to get McDonald and pick 28. Again Unlikely.

Give it a week and we'll know.

I am not greedy and am realistic enough to realise we don't hold the cards on this one.
Respect Brisbane supporters for saying pick #12 is not on the table (we would feel the same way if positions were reversed).
I would be happy to swap Lovett for McDonald :thumbsu:

I think where bombers fans are runing into problems with us on this board with Lovett is that when we say we wont give up pick 12 for him, we aren't arguing what Lovett is worth. Some club very well might give up a first round pick for him, but we wont as we are still building and will want our first round pick. No matter who it is, i doubt we would be trading our first round pick. Weather or not Lovett is worth one, is entirely irrelevant to us here on the Brisbane board. If it comes down to the Bombers saying its pick 12 or nothing, we will walk.

I'm sure if other clubs got wind of Brisbane offering a third round pick, then other clubs would make a better offer ie a late 2nd rd or an earlier third rd pick.

Lovett would be a great pick up for Brisbane and would add genuine pace and skills to the skillful but slow midfield you have. If you go after him it will be with a second rd pick and a player imo.

It is impossible for us fans to know exactly what the club is actually willing to give up, but anything is possible. We know we have talked to him, but how much Voss wants him is unknown, and that will impact what we offer to trade.

I wouldn't think we would want to give up our 2nd pick for Lovett, but again, we can never really know. It is possible i guess. I think this trade wont be done until the end of the week as they nut out the details though.

How do people feel about a second round pick plus a player for Lovett. Really don't want to lose Jmac but if the rumors are true we may as well get something for him! Another possibility is Hooper.

Although I am not sold on the idea of picking up Lovett, I think making an exchange of our second round pick for him would be alright. He is a player with some experience who can play good football. There are a few question marks about him and he could turn out to disappoint, but there is also the possibility of him being a good performer for us. To me, that equates to the value of a second round pick most years.

I guess it all depends though on what our chances of getting a good return on a trade for J.MacDonald are. If clubs are keen to swap a decent pick or player, then I'd be reserving him for that. In the case that clubs are not all that interested, he may end up being packaged off to Essendon, with one of our later picks in exchange for Lovett.

Although I really like MacDonald, I am still hoping that perhaps we can trade him to Geelong for Stokes. Although he'd need to work hard on his skills to get them up to Geelong's standards, MacDonald might be able to play a similar role to what T.Harley has been playing.

No big deal if that eventuates.

Like I've said all along, it would be nice to get him up here but its not the end of the world if we don't.

Good! Just don't want him at our club. Would rather that we pick up Tuck instead. Will come at a cheaper price & is a solid, in & under footballer & seemingly a better citizen.

I was listening to Dermie Brereton on SEN....He described Travis Tuck as "Galaxy" ...a top bloke.....but ...way out there.....:D

I think Shane Tuck (Richmond) is the one in consideration, not Travis Tuck (Hawthorn).
