Knocked off work to find this out, before I found out the score. Devastated. Didn't care if we beat Melbourne by 40 or by 80 or by 120, we're front runners anyway. But this is just horrible news.

All the best to Spitta, hopefully gets in touch with Jarryd Roughead who did his approx round 13 of 2011 by memory and got back by round 2 in 2012, and it's pretty obvious that he has made a full recovery. No doubt Jarryd is a quality guy who will hopefully help out with Spitta with his recovery. So hopefully not a full year.

Roughead was lucky that it wasn't a complete rupture (from memory also), and IIRC it was around round 9-10 for Roughy and I thought he got back a few weeks later (round 5-6). If it's fully ruptured unfortunately Swallow can kiss next season goodbye. Big fan of the bloke, one of the blokes you always want out there.

Terrible news. If there is a positive, I reckon he's been playing injured for maybe 8 weeks now. Might do him good to rest the rest of his body while this injury is repaired.

Also a chance for others to show some leadership, and take on more midfield responsibility, against some quality teams in coming weeks.

Rotten luck for both Swallow and North as he is one of their gun players. It is never nice to see any player laid low by a long term injury. Next 12 months will be very frustrating for him. He is young enough however to fully recover from this.

Roughead from Hawthorn has come back just as good. Also Anthony Rocca came back after similar injury, sustained against North if my memory serves me correct

12 months is a bit of a stretch I think. There have been a number of players who have had quicker recovery times than that.

I'm tipping worse case he will be right to go come round 5-6 next year.
